"What a great little place, just off the main road to/from Vilaflor guaranteed to fuel you up for the next challenge. The food was very authentic and there were nice views from the terrace. Inside is massive and I am thinking very popular on chilly days. I had to decline the free shot at the end unfortunately the downside of driving! Could not fault the staff and they made the meal even more enjoyable, I can recommend the and I saw a meal go by and got a bit of food envy!"

"The best restaurant in Vilaflor. We were bowled over by the quality of the food and the experience at El Refugio. We arrived without a booking and were warmly welcomed. The chef was very talented, she cooked everything from scratch when we ordered. One can see the open plan kitchen from the dining area. The server was a great guy who gave us information about the local ingredients and dishes. We were very hungry after hiking and so we ordered fried cheese, pan y mojos, Canarian potatoes, (The potatoes in Vilaflor are the best, they're recommended by all the Canarians) fried potatoes (these were done in a way we had not encountered before almost as thin as a crisp but light and delicious). The restaurant was kind enough to give us half a mixed meat grill and half a vegetable grill the portions were still huge though! My boyfriend had the local black pudding, pork chop and two types of sausages. I had 6 different grilled vegetables so fresh. The house red wine is local and lovely, we had a bottle to share. The bill was €50 for incredible quality produce and service. We were given a complimentary digestif of the local honey rum to finish our meal. I cannot tell you how nice the proprietors are at El Refugio. Best night and best food in Vilaflor, thank you El Refugio!"

"We were heading up to Teidi National Park when we realised we were rather hungry! Luckily for us we stumbled across this lovely little restaurant. It’s out in the middle of nowhere but still very popular! The restaurant was lovely and the staff incredibly friendly. We had soup to start followed by grilled chicken and chips. the meal was really lovely and incredibly good value for money."
