"Der Elisenhof im Stadtteil Schildgen war und ist eine Instition in dem Ort am Eingang zum Bergischen Land. Die Einrichtung der auf den ersten Blick einfach anmutenden Gaststätte ist rustikal. So, wie es sich für eine Kneipe gehört. Hinter dem Haus liegt ein uriger Biergarten mit eigenem Ausschank. Die Küche als gut bürgerlich zu bezeichnen, klingt etwas abwertend. Ist aber so nicht gemeint. Das "gut" könnte man auch als "Sehr gut" bezeichnen. Hier kocht eine Frau, die ihr Handwerk versteht und ganz offensichtlich liebt. Alles ist perfekt zubereitet, gut gewürzt und frisch gemacht. Was auch immer man von der kleinen Karte auswählt - einen Fehler kann man nicht machen. Besonders zu empfehlen ist der Kartoffelsalat. Einfach klasse! Der Service ist gut, und die Preise sind sehr moderat."
