"Have been many times and always enjoyed the service, the ambience and of course the food. On this occasion, I am hoping 'a bad day at the office' I occurred as it was far from good. The amuse-bouche, of which they were many, were extremely bland and without the usual taste sensation. The main course of tempura cod was almost tasteless, with sight tempura. Not good. The 'almost braised beef' was fine but again, not great. The big disappointment was the signature carbonara. Not even close to what we have enjoyed before. The senior Sommelier, who is very good was not present. This night or other red as we saw. His sub, a young lad, was not good. All in all a disappointing evening and as a said, maybe a bad day for all. Places like Casa Vehla beat this hands down."

"We stayed at the Conrad for 10 nights and probably dined at Louro four times. In terms of food choice and taste much better than Gusto although I'm aware the argument would be they're different culinary styles. Fair enough but Gusto, albeit being presented as fine dining, is quite bland and boring in comparison. The first two times we dined at Louro, both food and service was good thanks to Irina who had every detail of service under control. The next two times we visited it could've been a different restaurant altogether in terms of service as Irina wasn't around. I'm afraid to say service bordered on the farcical in fact - why they thought it would be a good idea to have nearly every waiter in attendance come to the table and ask if everything's OK I'm not sure. Usually one or, maybe at a push, two waiters are allocated per table but not at Louro - you get everyone bar the chef coming to you which then gets very repetitive and intrusive. On one evening we were served our main course before our starter and on the following evening we were served the amuse bouche twice. Faulty Towers comes to mind, that and/or serious lack of communication between waiters and the pass."

"What a disappointment. We were so excited to try the number two ranked restaurant in Vale do Lobo, but we left scratching our head about who on Earth has written the reviews for this place! On arrival we wondered where we had come too? It’s...like a transport cafe off a main road in Bradford! Just downright rough and more than grim. We asked on a lovely warm evening we asked if we could sit on their outdoor terrace with our cocktails. We were told “no! We have no lights, it’s dirty and we haven’t cleaned them”. Ok! Let’s sit in then. So we were plonked in an indoor room with plastic chairs while the lady brought in a blue tooth speaker playing Mariah Carey covers while closing the windows so the ancient aircon unit could Cool the room down from the 30 degrees it said on the display! We ordered cocktails which ranged from a reasonable Bloody Mary to a rancid Pina Colada. The bread for the table was tiny and verging on stale while the garlic bread was dry and uninspiring. Not too worry though? The steaks they are famous for will save the day? All those reviews after all? We ordered a sirloin and a ribeye. Both with peppercorn sauce and chips and new potatoes. Well the chips were nice but that’s where it ends. My ribeye was never a ribeye in a million years. It was rump passed off as ribeye, and my wife’s sirloin was the worst thing I’ve ever seen on a plate served to a paying customer. Inedible shoe leather. 100% frozen and just ghastly. Peppercorn sauce rotten. New Potatoes deep fried! Seriously. We got the bill off the lovely and pleasant staff and ordered an Uber. As we waited staff where in and out of a chest freezer. Enough said. We won’t return."
