"I loved this place. I never visited the old Auberge du Cep in its famous days under Chantal Chagny, but given it had two Michelin stars latterly maybe I couldn't have afforded it anyway. Well, the stars have gone but the cuisine is wonderful, just...what an auberge should be generous plates of seasonal, local food combined with imagination and cooked beautifully. I greedily had the menu which included a fish course as well as the usual four others, but although plentiful the food is never stodgy so was able to get through it all without feeling ridiculously full. Well, maybe a bit. Dishes enjoyed by my wife and me included crunchilly salty frog's legs, a terrine en croute with enviably light pastry, a perfectly cooked fillet of char which reassured me that I don't undercook fish at home, foie gras farcied chicken with a brilliantly reduced sauce AND an extra pot of the stuff en croute on the side (I said they were generous), and a (necessarily) light and refreshing bit of grated comte for a cheese course. And, because you're in Fleurie, the wine list is very high quality and seriously affordable. Service was great, too after i mentioned that whilst we weren't exactly rushing we didn't have a HUGE amount of time, everything arrived admirably promptly. OK, so my wife said she would have welcomed some green veg to cut through the richness. But what does she know. I shall be coming back every time I'm in the area!"

"Perfect place to eat on your tour of the Beaujolais. Super 4 course menu for 24 euros.Good wholesome cooking,not fancy and plenty of it. Spectacular views from the tables on the terrasse if it is a nice day. Good wine tasting at the domaine too. Check the map on the website to make sure you find it. We will certainly be back!"
