"Meals were overpriced and not particularly delicious. Chips and vegetables cost extra in most cases. They try to justify the cost with a little creative Arty Farty with ingredients, including simply a vegetable or ingredient on the menu with its French name.... I guess they want to differ from your average pub, but at our party it wasn't worth the money. On the plus side the staff were friendly and attentive."

"An elegant, compact bar and moody atmosphere perfect for date night or small group of friends sharing gossip. A strong wine list wine selection and delicious food arriving from the bar kitchen cooked in front of your eyes. This is a clever and efficient...use of space. The half chicken (poussin) with creamy yogurt base and green piquant sauce was soo delicious I nearly fell off my chair. It was the most perfectly cooked chicken I’ve ever had and for only Bargain!!! The salad crunchy and fresh with a French vinaigrette. The pasta was robust in flavour but a little over cooked. I’m still dreaming of the chicken....... Our friend at the nearby Sweet Envy recommended them as one of the better places in town to eat and drink! They weren’t wrong. It’s in a more interesting part of Hobart. Definitely worth a visit if you want to get away from the city crowds and yet still central enough. I was so impressed at the effort they have gone to to include a disabled lift in such a small space."

"The service was good it must be said, but we're not rushing back. The fish and chips was ok, but not great and this is Hobart, where really good fish and chips should be possible. But it was ok. My husband's scallop pie he reported was ok, but not in the same street as others he had tried. You can eat in, which we did, and it was clean and comfortable, and reasonably priced."

"I love the coffee here. the baked eggs ordered and they were “ok”, but I have eaten around the flattened egg white can’t help it, but if I notice that, my appetit weints significantly. I am not a fan of boards as servier plates either. they store bacteria. putting my butter on it was never to work. coffee was great. beside me, eating was an older couple. 92 and 95. I know that because they sat on the couch and couldn't pick up. I looked around and none of the waiting hired had noticed. if they have two older people in their midst, they should be aware of it. "Room for A Pony is an interesting restaurant in the restaurant strip, North Hobart. Interesting because you never know what it is going to be like on the day. We have had brilliant meals and fantastic service on occasions and just OK at other times. The décor is nondescript inside and outside the presentation is nothing exciting. The menu has not changed for a while, but this is not necessarily bad as our favourites were still available. Fortunately, on our recent visit for brunch it was fine. It was cold outside so we were able to sit inside near to the wood heater. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, (Cowboys baked eggs) $24.00; it came with two eggs baked in a red bean and chipotle sauce with grilled cheese on top and avocado smash, and a large slice of sourdough toast. The order came piping hot in a cast iron ramekin with plenty of melted cheese and smashed avocado. My wife chose the Potato Rosti, $24.00. The Rosti also arrived rather hot which was great. The dish included two poached eggs, roasted pumpkin, burnt butter sauce and spiced pepitas. No complaints on that one. The meals were accompanied by good coffee, nice and hot. We always ask for very hot coffee as the tendency in many places seems to be to serve warm, not hot coffee. Overall, we were quite happy with everything and will return some time in the future."
