"Average sushi. A bit overpriced considering it was not very interesting or impressive. But it’s probably because of the location. I was disappointed."

"Having spent a few hours enjoying plays at the Toronto Fringe Festival last Monday evening, we wandered down Bathurst Street to King Street to find a place to eat. It was good fortune that we turned left on King instead of right, otherwise we would have missed Blowfish on the northeast corner. This is a large restaurant with a typical Japanese minimalist décor - totally to our liking. In fact, they even promote their menu as Japanese Fusion. On a summer Monday evening it was fairly quiet with perhaps 15 diners, including ourselves. They were promoting their Summer Menu. At $35 for 3 courses it looked like a great deal so we ordered it. We were not disappointed! The salad was outstanding and set on a bed of thinly sliced watermelon. The next course was a plate of 4 pieces of sushi. I'm allergic to shrimp. No problem, they substituted something equally delectable. We both agreed it was some of the finest sushi we have ever tasted (and we eat Japanese fairly often.)! The main course was the fusion part of the meal - a favourite of mine, Branzino fillet. As is usually the case with Japanese dining, the presentation of each course was sensational. The service from Richelle was terrific, although chances are she may not have had the time to chat with us so much had we been there on a busy Friday night! Wine prices are a little steep at $14 for a 5oz glass (they also sell 3oz glasses) but that seems to be the norm in downtown restaurants in big cities. We had a delightful evening at Blowfish and highly recommend a visit to enjoy their Summer Menu."
