"Ali's life history and his engaging openness made me come back for six of the seven days I was in La Playita. Sometimes I would eat, but if I had been out elsewhere all day, I would just have a beer and visit with him. He has friends from all over the world, even one near my home town in British Columbia. I called her when I got back home and she was thrilled to hear about Ali. One day he will sell out, as he is in his late sixties now. So I will return before he leaves. He has a sweet dog that he has raised since it was dropped off as a puppy with her eyes not even opened yet. Just the measure of the man."

"It is always a breath of fresh air to find traditional, home-made food.This restaurant is only open until noon (as some places do in Mexico). This place delivers those flavours that you can only find in the Huasteca region, whilst keeping the sensation of the food being home-made. Such combination is so hard to find and just makes the restaurant more special (if you have been to the Huasteca, you know what I mean)."

"He ido en varias ocasiones y a distintas horas; cuando es desayuno y con mi novio, me siento muy cómoda, platicamos amenamente mientras ordenamos, y continuamos conversando y nos traen las bebidas frías o calientes o embriagantes, después de varios minutos pero si estas cómodo en el lugar pues eso del tiempo es lo de menos, se que a veces uno se desespera, pero vale la pena la espera, tienen un sazón especial sus platillos que la verdad me encanta, esos chilaquiles Wow!, las quesadillas, el huevo, todo todo, todo hasta las bebidas, baños limpios también, caras sonrientes. Esa juventud va con todo."
