"This place is constantly good. The service was a bit slow during the lunch break, but the staff was apologetic. Reasonable price-performance ratio and a handsome menu. I recommend the massaman curry - you get two beautiful big beef pieces and a decent portion of rice. The stir-Fry vegetables, my boss had also looked really nice"

"Bistro Hulu is becoming one of my favorite casual Chinese restaurants in Sydney. On our latest visit, we ordered the fish maw and longan hotpot again (still as delicious), as well as the pan fried pork buns, steamed chicken with ginger and shallot sauce, vinegar pork ribs and cold sesame noodles. All were tasty and well cooked. The pan fried pork buns in particular, were more delicate and fluffier than the ones you get in Taste of Shanghai (but would prefer a bit more pork filling).<br/ Previous visit <br/ I was pleasantly surprised by Bistro Hulu. Though service was a bit distracted, the food was delicious. The menu seems to change regularly but I'd recommend the chicken, fish maw and longan hotpot. This had chicken pieces, Chinese cabbage and slices of fish maw in a flavoursome broth sweetened by dried longan. We also had the pork ribs with grapefruit, a twist on the classic sweet and sour pork with a citrus tang. The prawns with seasonal vegetables was not particularly memorable either way. And lastly, we rounded off the meal with a simple but tasty vegetable dish of stir fried morning glory (kangkung) with fermented tofu. Good spot for a mix of classic and inventive Chinese dishes."

"Had lunch here on a Saturday, I'm not usually a big fan of Vietnamese food, however after eating here, it has definitely change my opinion on Vietnamese food. We shared 3 entrees among the two of us: fried quail, chicken San choy bao and prawn and pork pancake... Each dish were large portions even though they were entrees. All 3 dishes were delicious! Only 1 negative feedback, one of our teacups had lipstick mark on it still as it was not washed thoroughly. We asked for a new cup and the staff apologised.<br>

"Love the decor and the set up, warm and cozy.<br>
Had the large pho, for $16 was pricey, and a little light on the toppings, broth was okay, too heavy on the star anise, and definitely too sweet.<br>

"Dined at the restaurant for the first time and it was fabulous! The food had a modern Thai flavour and simply delicious. We had the coconut prawns for the entree and for the mains the special fried rice with prawns, the soft shell crab in blacker pepper sauce, beef rendang, their signature dish the pad Thai and a chicken salad with orange. Each dish was so well done and it is the best Thai food we have ever tasted. The service was excellent and very professional. The owner was "hands on" and very friendly.A definite return, can't wait!"
