"When I was seated I was immediately brought a nice hot pot of tea and menu. Order was taken and delivered promptly. Enjoyed a large (my eyes were bigger than my stomach) regular pho with steak - I believe it was 10.95 CAD. Meat portion very good, noodles perfect. Side plate of sprouts, basil, pepper slices and lime were all fresh. As is common in Vietnam once the food is served you do not see your server again until you flag one down to pay. It made me smile that the staff were very social together - they have fun at work and to me that's a healthy atmosphere. Place was clean and orderly. No issue parking. Good value for a healthy meal."

"My wife and I decided that we would try Hot Chai Cafe, originally think that there was a coffee shop we were surprised that it served hot meals cooked to order. They served a fusion of Asian food from Chinese to Korean to Indian. My wife had the lemongras chicken and I had the spicy Korean chicken. There was a lot of food and a reasonable price. The owner was very gracious and made us welcome in his restaurant. is worth going back"

"We enjoyed a mid week Dim Sum at this restaurant with our new friends. The two couples we went with frequent this place and invited us along!We went before the lunch rush.Easy access off Island Highway and very convenient if just coming from the Departure Baby terminal in Nanaimo.It is at the Brooks Landing Mall.Our friends ordered and our server remembered the order without writing it down.We were served Chinese tea and then a steady delivery of many delightful items. Served hot and very tasty with sauces. We had the use of chopsticks and cutlery when these little treats got a little slippery lol!It also serves a buffet. Weekends are busier apparently. Clean and well organized. Basic tables and chairs. Round and long tables for larger groups.We will return and maybe try the buffet."

"Dover used to be our go-to for take-out Chinese, but the last few years have not been good. I thought we would try again, but was disappointed. The Almond Chicken was soggy, the Chow Mein was bland and dry. Most people in North Nanaimo/Dover area will go to Quality Foods for Chinese over Dover Chinese Food."

"Another date night, another amazing restaurant here in Nanaimo! Tonight's food tour was Nanaimo's second-best (La Stella's got new competition) Italian restaurant, The Nest. We started with a bottle of Nelson, BC's own Cactus Red, followed by butternut squash ravioli and crab arancini, and followed it up with the truffle risotto and sambuca prawn spaghetti, and finished it up with 20 year old Port and a chocolate ganache pyramid and homemade ice cream. Words escape me. I can't pick my favourite dish, although sadly the arancini was not as good as La Stella's. But the rest? A triumph! Thanks for an amazing meal and another beautiful date night!"
