"There are many good reasons Monte Carlo has been around since 1906: the food is traditional (read uncomplicated and toothsome, the bartenders (wearing starched white jackets make superb cocktails for grown ups (no Scooby Snack foolishness here , and the waitresses are completely and wonderfully old school (efficient, attentive, and leaning towards 'Hiya, hon ' friendly . It is impossible for me to pass on the Szechuan Green Beans and merely unlikely that I 'd pass on Charlie 's Kitchen Steak Sandwich. Nevertheless, Scallops Basilic are always satisfying; although the optional heavy cream spoils the lightness of the simple basil, tomato, and white wine sauce. Whiskey Peppercorn Filet is not as black peppery as I 'd like, but it is still totally delicious. Considering the compact yet complete menu, there 's no reason for anyone to go away hungry. Monte Carlo is what it is: unpretentious and unassuming (the appetizer is not swellegant pate foie gras, it 's good old chopped beef liver. It 's food everyone can enjoy, served by a career waitstaff in estimable surroundings a place far, far removed from shopping district eateries."

"Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. Small, local diners feel that you can't beat. Huge portions, cooked to order and everything done right in front of you. Slow pace due to this; but you will not be disappointed! We've been here for 80 years and never see this place anywhere. If you live nearby, that would be a cornerstone. I'm often back, highly recommended."
