"We've frequented The Wheat Sheaf since we live within walking distance.I've tried multiple dishes. Nothing has been memorably good. It's all just average.I ordered nachos that weren't crispy they were stale, the chicken wings really fatty. It's a local watering hole with mediocre pub food.The menu is huge which might be part of the issue?Maybe make it smaller and put effort into making those few things really good.Tried the pizza, the dough was raw, it's like it was flash cooked to make the cheese melt warm it through but when you bit in the dough was as stringy as the cheese. I didn't like it. The place needs a major lift, from renovating the space to renovating the menu and getting the kitchen on board with improving the quality of what they are dishing out.I'll continue to go for drinks because it's in walking distance, but I'll eat before I go, or go to the Crow "

"The food was good had the famous lobster very enjoyable. It was enjoyable that is until I got home, I started to feel very very unwell and didn't sleep that night. If yoy must go avoid the seafood, my friend didnt try it and had no issues. For a restaurant that charged 100 dollars for my bill this is unacceptable"

"I ordered a gluten free Mozza mushroom chicken burger. It was hands down the best I have ever eaten! WOW It was delivered within a half hour. Everybody else stated the food was great too."

"I ordered prime rib at $35. The size of the slice was nice but it was like it was boiled not roasted. Instead of gravy it was swimming in beef broth. Garlic mashed potatoes over mashed to almost mush and the veggies consisted of 5...small triangles of red pepper and zucchini. I used to love going here but i doubt I will ever go again."

"We tried this pub for the first time and we were all disappointed with our lunch. How can a pub scare a burger? A dry, scooped beef patty, which looked out the size and shape of a meatball, a Cajun chicken burger who had...no spices ever. It looked like pre-drilled chicken from a box supplier. There are many good pubs in Nanaimo, the Quaterway Pub is not one of them! Make yourself a favor and eat somewhere else!"

"Stopped by Brown's last night and was looking to get a seat in the main lounge area.... there were many empty tables, however, we were seated in a patio waiting area instead. We ordered a couple drinks... I had the red Sangaria which was tasty! I had the Cowgirl salad and found the portion to be average. The Chicken was dry... my friend ordered a gluten free dairy free pizza and was charged an extra $8 for additional toppings. Overall, my visit was very average."

"I met these people at "Bite of Nanaimo" they were serving wings and riblets. I went back 4 times for the wings. They were well cooked and had a great taste. Absolutely running out to the restaurant during our next visit"

"The server recommended I sit at the bar as I was alone. I’m glad she did, as the locals were friendly, engaging and knowledgeable about Marbled Murrelets, which is unheard of! I ordered the burger special. It was topped with sausage this evening and was the best burger I’ve had in Nanaimo! I’ve eaten hundreds of burgers in this city. Guinness in tap also a plus. Kimberly was excellent! Attentive, friendly and a great reader of the room. I will definitely be back. My first full 5 star."
