"I go to Badajoz around 2 times a year to buy cigars, which are less expensive than in Portugal. The Boutique del Fumador Almazán in Calle Vasco Nuñez (in the center) has an excellent selection with prices to every purse. Normally, I eat in one of the many restaurants existing in the center and until now I hadn´t found one that deserved specila mention (both for the good or for the bad). This time, however, I checked restaurants in Trip Advisor and, due to good reviews, I decided to try the Taperia Ajo Negro and I can vouch the good reviews and even more. Having previously checked the list in their site I ordered Calamares a la Romana (fried squid rings). At first I was a bit disapointed when the waiter told me that this dish had been crossed form the list as nobody ordered it. But then the cook come and said it had some squid (to cook for the staff) and we could have it (he even showed me the squid, which had excelllent looks). Well the dish was accordingly excellently prepared some of the best fried calamares I ever had. The other dishes we ordered foie with tomato jam, mushrooms croquettes and lime pie for dessert were also very good, and I noticed that other dishes served to other customers looked also very good. Very good food and very friendly staff next time I visit Badajoz I know were I am going to eat. The only problem of Ajo Negro is that it is a small place with limited seats, so if you don´t come early you´ll have to wait for a vacant table"
