"The Fountain Inn in Gloucester is situated in a nice part of the city centre, very near the beautiful cathedral. The interior of the pub really does, as advertised, look like a country pub. It's small inside but has two dining areas, so for meals it accommodates more than appears to be the case on first impression. The food is absolutely first rate quality and a very reasonable price. Whilst the pub feels warm and inviting and the other patrons we meet are often friendly, as regular visitors we've unfortunately found that the same can occasionally not be said for many of the staff. Whilst service at the bar is usually quick and we're tended to at table very diligently, many of the staff, regardless of age, can be monosyllabic when spoken to, can come across as sullen and can occasionally even be quite rude and brusque in response to friendly enquiries or order requests especially when they're busy. This is a shame for a pub which otherwise faultless."

"Fantastic, tasty, super tasty eating but shocking, very slow service. terrible waiting time. just three waiters for over 40 tables. wait for the net, wait for the drinks, wait for the pudding, wait for the bill...Waiting, wait. super friendly and courteous staff (then you can only not cope with so many commands. where is the management, where is the owner?"

"I was tired after a long day and the staff were really friendly and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble. The beer was excellent and I had a really great steak. I bet the live music nights are good. Well worth checking this one out."

"I went here for breakfast with my husband. The restaurant was very busy, and Bridget, the waitress, warned us before we even sat down that there was an hour wait, as only one chef had turned up to work...... We decided to wait anyway. I 'm glad we did. Bridget is the most professional waitress I have ever come across. She kept the place immaculate, served everyone in a timely fashion, checked if we wanted drinks and did it all with a smile, even though she was under pressure and extremely busy. Our breakfast, when it arrived, was cooked perfectly. The chef, despite the pressure he was under, hadn 't 'cut corners ' it was hot, well cooked, and well presented well done! All in all I really enjoyed the breakfast experience here and will definitely go again. If this is the standard when the staff are under pressure, imagine how fantastic it will be next time! Thank you Bridget and 'Chef '."
