"Booked on the back of TripAdvisor reviews and careful study of the menu. We had the €28 3-course menu and everyone enjoyed the quality of the food. Welcome was warm, service (from Amelie) was attentive and the food was excellent. With two bottles of wine and one bottle of sparkling water, the bill was a very reasonable €70 per couple, which is excellent value for a very good meal.Note: very easy parking is available in the Chateau car park, then a two-minute walk down through the castle gate into town. Saves negotiating the narrow lanes of Hautefort itself."

"Très bon accueil, ambiance familiale un soir de marché nocturne. Des assiettes de salades composées bien garnies, un menu traditionnel à 20€ entree-plat-dessert, service suivi, une bonne brasserie avec une belle carte de pizza sur base de pâte à pain ou pâte feuilletée. Un bon moment convivial et bon enfant."

"As the previous reviewer said, under new management and a very welcome change that is. Ideally situated on the main street in Hautefort, this little cafe/bar/restaurant has not lived up to its potential for a few years. Now managed by a young couple, it's had a lick of paint and generally tidied up and cleaned, and is once more a pleasure to visit. The terrace under the grapevine is somewhat smarter and includes an outdoor sofa and chairs for lounging with a drink or a coffee, and of course still has the lovely view of the valley under the village. The menu is perfectly suited, with a good range of simple but well executed salads, steak, burgers etc. The ingredients are all sourced locally, the meat from the butchers a few doors down and so on, and all suppliers are attributed on the menu. Ice creams are artisanale, delicious and generous. My wife's parmesan salad was excellent as was my home made burger served in a decent ciabatta style roll. Probably a good idea to reserve a table for lunch in the summer as it will get busy - and also not to be in a hurry to eat - just enjoy it. Nice to see that they plan music evenings - e.g. jazz on a Friday evening - which will make it a very pleasant spot to enjoy a drink as the sun goes down."
