"Visited Saturday evening as a group of Drinks orders took an age to arrive .Had to continuously try to get staffs attention to order drinks , water that we ordered before meal still hadn't arrived by the time we had finished our meal and...after asking for the time. When ordering our meals asked if the pate was smooth with the response of it's no bits in it if that's what you mean . I would expect any server to have at least basic knowledge of the menu. That said the food was amazing but unfortunately due to the poor customer service wouldn't visit again."

"We arrived on time ordered drinks then waited almost an hour before anyone came to take our food order.Myself and granddaughter had pigs in blankets for starter which was disgusting they tasted like paint the rest of the food was just ok.disappointed to say the least"

"Easy to get a table online for Good Friday but found that despite confirmation from Open Table online booking had not gone through to the pub! The staff got us in with no problem. Service was a little slow and may have been a little understaffed but friendly people made for a good experience. Food is Vintage Inns normal menu, nothing exciting but you know what to expect."

"LOVE this pub!! This is our new local and I have to say, probably one of the best country pubs I’ve ever been to- So cosy and authentic, a proper, country pub and the best bit is, unlike a lot of pubs that only accept...dogs in the bar area, dogs are allowed throughout the whole pub here and I cannot tell you how friendly and welcoming the staff were towards us. Often, in a lot of pubs where dogs are accepted, they are tolerated more than welcomed. This couldn’t be further from the truth at Eagle Child; Two staff members came over to our table to make a big fuss over our spaniel Rufus, one even gave him some treats- he was spoiled! You really don’t get that everywhere and it made a nice, refreshing change. I visited with my husband and my mum- My mum I both had the Sunday roast and my husband the steak and ale pie. All three dishes were absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection. The beef I had with my Sunday roast was so tender and the presentation was beautiful. My mum also commented on how delicious her lamb was. If I have any slight criticisms, it would probably be that the portion sizes for the Sunday roast were a touch on the small side (and I’m only petite and don’t eat loads). However, I thought it was very good value for money- All top quality produce cooked really well. I think what makes this pub is its surroundings and the atmosphere, it’s really homely and cosy inside and I cannot rate the staff highly enough- I’m so sorry we didn’t have any cash with us to leave a tip! We certainly will have next time! See you soon!"

"Really nice service here and was right in front of the open fire on a really cold day, nice it was also. To be honest, I can say the best steak and ale pee I've ever had in my life, full of brazed steak, cooked to perfection. everything with hand cutting chips and fresh veg and correct gravy also. would have liked to have been gloomy, but was too filled to fit everything else. I would recommend this place to everyone and everyone and I will definitely be back for more."

"Visited for a Sunday dinner. very lively bar area. one of the guests was lactose, gluten and garlic inlerant, which had previously been highlighted before the booking, whether the chef would fulfill accordingly. the waitress was aware of this, but was very negatiw regarding the choices and whether the cook would actually be finished. steak, chips snuffed salat seemed the only choice that avoids treating the cook with the food intolerances. a lot of meal times were ordered by röstlamm to steak and ale cake. No one in the group of 5 thought their meal was particularly good. the cakes were baked and meat. Roast dinners were dry and our eating unbearable member of the group suffered a bad feeling despite their safe choices. a disappointing experience."
