"I loved the fact the fact there was only one thing on the menu and the only question they ask is 'how do you like your steak cooked?'We saw this restaurant on Rick Steins weekend in Bordeaux. We arrived in Bordeaux at 5pm on a Saturday and thought we would try this place right away as its a bit of a Bordeaux tradition. We read the restaurant does not take bookings, opens at 7.15pm and gets very busy. We decided to queue up at 6.50pm. We were about 20th in the queue. We got seated very shortly after 7.15pm. By that stage the queue had grown quite large. The menu is as simple as it gets, €19 for a salad with walnuts, followed by steak and frites. We also ordered a half bottle of Bordeaux red which had the label of the restaurant on there, all bases covered. The salad was a simple affair of sliced lettuce with walnuts and some vinegar and olive oil dressing. Basic but tasty with some sliced baguette. The main consists of a long narrow, relatively flat steak. The steak had been sliced into thin strips before it arrives. Some of the steak is served on your plate, the rest in a flat metal serving dish. The reason being the sauce. The steak sits in a sauce of mainly butter and garlic, almost like you get with L'escargot. The garlicky butter sauce is delicious. The steak was soft and tasty. Its a delicate affair because its a thin steak but it tasted really good. You get a whole bunch of frites on your plate, a lot. They had a crisp skin but still soft on the inside, no mean feat with such small chips. I am not a big fan of frites in general as they are usually not very good, in the UK at least. It must be said that these were certainly the best frites I have ever had. If they tasted this good in the UK I would eat them more. They dont give you any ketchup or vinegar, the idea is to use the sauce on the steak with your frites. They come around to offer a top up on frites, unfortunately I still had a fair few on my plate so did not get offered any more. Had I have known this offer would arrive I would have made sure my frites were well eaten so as to get more. The house wine was local and very tasty. We did not have desert. We found the service to be helpful and polite.L'Entrecote is a unique experience. Is it the best steak you will ever have? No! Is it the beast meal you will eat in Bordeaux? Probably not. But in its own way it is a must try because its a simple idea, very well executed. A quaint place that is well worth the visit."

"I took the dish of the week: a césar salad with “tofoulet”. It's the most generous salad I had the opportunity to eat. The tofu was pane and fried. De-li-cieux. I also appreciate the commitment to the cook's animals. previous review update on 2022-07-11"

"Although the rooms are not so comfortable, being the small beds. the staff is attentive and some speak perfect Spanish, while standing on the slope of all those who have that language. Also, breakfast has various options for those who do not eat meat."
