"Today i came into Kiku sushi a new customer, i will definitely be back to experience other amazing dishes on the menu. Today i had the pleasure of enjoying a chicken katsu bento lunch box. To start the meal i was brought a very flavorful miso soup in which was at the perfect temperature to consume immediately. I then enjoyed the Chicken bento box lunch. The box includes a side salad miso soup chefs choice rolls and chicken katsu let me tell you this is to die for! The chicken is cooked to perfection very crispy, the katsu sauce is very flavorful especially with the rice! (So flavorful in fact i had to pack it up and save it for later LOL) The sushi all in all was flavorful just on my california roll the rice was a bit hard but the flavor was still there!!! Most places have pre prepared salads but that is not something Kiku does as there salads are fresh refreshing and packed with flavor! There is also a very flavorful vegan and vegetarian menu packed with many options! Next is the eating space. It is a bit small but utilizes it's spaces efficiently and is very clean. During the warmer days there is outdoor seating.The service was on time and the waitress was very kind and helpful she had also filled me in on the history of the building and wow what a turn around especially during the pandemic. They opened up on the same foot they left off with from reading past reviews. This is a place i will definitely become a regular at and would recommend to many friends the food is great!"

"I wanted something light and I was in Berkeley for a little bit as part of my trip, so this place hits the spot because they have Thai noodle soup. The last time I had such a dish was in Bangkok, Thailand, which is interesting because a typical Thai restaurant in America mostly does not have the noodle soup in the menu; they usually have pad thai, curry, stir fry, etc. I got #5 with vermicelli noodle which has BBQ pork, ground pork, fish ball, and sliced fish cake. There is a pretty substantial amount of vermicelli noodle and they cooked it al dente which was great. The BBQ pork did not have much flavor, ground pork tasted not too fresh, and the fish ball was a bit mushy, so the toppings were kind of a miss except the sliced fish cake. It is a good addition to have green onion and some fried garlic to enhance the flavors of the clearer broth, even though I ordered that dish specifically because the broth was clear and light.While prices are pretty good for the area $10.50 for a noodle bowl), I hope they update the website because the cost of the items in person is actually around 1.5x more than what is stated on the website. I know inflation hit hard everywhere but it just feels different when you mentally prepare a budget only to realize it costs way more than you think."

"The dictionary defines Disappointing as failing to fulfill someone 's hopes or expectations. We define it when we think of the $55 dollars we spent for totally DISAPPOINTING [read disgusting] food. Celery and broccoli so hard it was a joke to even call it cooked or steamed. Meat was flavorless, zucchini so overcooked and the egg rolls are not even egg rolls they are flavorless tiny spring rolls. Dear Lord tell me that there are NO CHINESE people preparing this food. The plain white rice and cashew chicken was as un imaginative as you could possibly make a dinner. Tell me no Chinese people were instructing other Chinese people to cook Chinese food like this to serve to the unsuspecting public and pass it off as authentic Chinese food. IT WAS ALL TERRIBLE! FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS OF TERRIBLE! If I did not live 45 miles away i would have taken it back. Instead, I am going to tell everyone I know every week DO NOT GO TO YUMMY HOUSE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES/... They don 't care! WHERE has all the real Chinese food serve by REAL CHINESE gone?"
