"This place continues to be one of the truly best places to eat in New York City it is actually my favorite place of all. The food is really exceptional incredibly fresh ingredients purchased at the Union Square farmer's market and various amazing purveyors on a daily basis as made clear by their Instagram chronicles. The food is utterly delicious and absolutely inspired being both truly authentically Italian and also thoughtful and innovative. The owners are virtually always there and they are incredibly warm and inviting, treating their patrons like one wonderful extended family. I will note that over the years I have witnessed the rare visitor who don't get the authenticity (they demand parmigiana on their seafood which simply is not permitted in real Italian cuisine) or who is otherwise the occasional over entitled, high maintenance attitude leaving disgruntled, but you can't please everyone. And you don't survive as a restaurant in NYC for 25 years, with the kinds of reviews that this place consistently gets without being really outstanding. I am not exaggerating to say that having moved from New York 10 years ago I literally come back to the City at least once a month to eat here. It is that good. If you have never been, ignore the outlier reviews.
