"I haven't been reviewing for years because I lost my TripAdvisor password! Due to the pandemic we have taken from Kura and it is as delicious as always! The Chawanmushi is so authentic in taste, but the amount is much more than you ever have in a restaurant in Japan. I don't think I've ever seen Chawanmushi on the menu in any other Japanese restaurant in Canada. I highly recommend that you look for an authentic Japanese dish. Sometimes they have a dessert special: Japanese pudding. If this is on the menu board, you should definitely order it. It's another perfect dish I never had in Canada except in Kura."

"I can't believe anyone would give less than full marks on Isshin. Creative, fresh, fast, served by attentive, knowledgeable staff. Good service, even when busy, a really good indicator. Food just flies out of the kitchen.Plus the menu includes authentic non-Japanese dishes, such as the Korean hot-pot- which was hot both ways, but delicious once I did what one is supposed to do-stir the egg into the rice with the supplied spoon.The rolls were fab., especially the dragon roll. As was the fried tofu, the vegetarian hot pot, the ngiri sushi- in fact everything was great! Four ate our fill for $90- no drinks.This is a gem for Penticton. Our friends who hosted us were well -known by staff, who even brought out a sampler plate for us to try. Mucho Gracias!Wish it were closer to where I live. Or maybe not. Eating out 30 nights a month gets expensive...."
