"Chica Bonita has a very cute location with a fun atmosphere and they play fun music!! It's not real Mexican food, or Tex-Mex, or Southwestern."

"There is a couple of things that easily attracted us to this restaurant – the location in the pedestrianised section of Central Avenue, away from strong ocean breezes but still in the middle of Manly’s partying mile, the handful of specials that they run every week such as 5 tacos for $15 or the Happy Hour, as well as the representation of fresh and bold flavours make this little place a must-visit. We started the night with a glass of cool and crisp white wine and one of their tequila cocktails, the Paloma. Who said that tequilas need to be boring? This cocktail was exactly what we wanted in a drink, with a slight bitterness and zesty body, cool and refreshing on a summer’s night out. But there is no reason to get stuck on the cocktails and imported beers if you want to treat yourself to something special. We were particularly intrigued by the choice of soda mixes that would include such delightful combinations such as mint, lime and agave. Moving on to the food – our first choice of two tacos, each 15cm diameter in size, were devoured so quickly, we can only say that we enjoyed these two immensely. While one taco was filled with grilled chorizo, with spicy juices dripping out of the rolled taco, the other was light and fresh with battered fish fillet and salsa, simply delicious. If you are not keen on tacos at all, check out the BBQ ribs starter which will definitely not confront you with salads or veggies but still they turned out to be finger-licking-good. With our tummies not quite filled yet, we then moved on to the highlight of our evening, four small taco plates, each topped with fresh tomato salsa and two lime pickled prawns. This was everything we could hope for on this night. Equally good but at an entirely different angle came the albondigas, or meatballs. We are familiar with the Continental Spanish version of this dish, which has Moorish cumin flavours and a distinct tomato flavour to the sauce. The albondigas at Tacos Tequila have a truly rustic feel to them. Served in two big hard taco shells they have been slow cooked with potatoes and other vegetables which make them a good choice for a cozy winter’s night. While the other dishes were mostly designed for happy sharing, this one clearly came across as a one-person dish. Overall, we had a fantastic night out at the Tacos Tequila. The only thing we’d like to suggest – do not select this restaurant on your first date night, as many of these dishes need to be eaten with your fingers, and we found ourselves losing the balancing act a couple of time. Not a big issue though if both of you are relaxed about little spills and mishaps, it definitely makes for a good conversation topic."

"Awesome upmarket fish and chip place delicious fish tacos (lots of flavour, decent size) and potato scallops. Really crispy batter. Chips were so so. Would suggest getting takeaway, as the seating and location is outdoors not super vibey. Food is consistently tasty and worth the price which is a bit higher than you’d expect for standard fish and chips. Highly recommend the taco!"

"If it's funky and cool you want in the northern beaches of Sydney, then you can't go much wrong with Peanut Butter Jelly.<br/ <br/ The street art dominating almost every wall of the venue is wonderfully bright, while the global fusion street food dishes are exciting and tasty.<br/ <br/ For the savoury dishes, the popcorn chicken tacos and peanut butter chicken skewers were excellent. The chicken nuggets were perfectly fried and crunchy, pairing very well with charred leek and slightly spicy habanero relish, while the juicy and tender chicken skewers smothered with a peanut butter sesame dressing were sweet, salty, and moreish.<br/ <br/ The lone dessert we tried (The Twinkee was totally decadent, with a tart lime cheesecake ice cream wrapped in coconut cake, crispy batter, and deep-fried then slotted onto an ice cream stick. They tried too hard with its presentation (what's with the blood splatter look? but it was a fun and sweet way to finish the meal.<br/ <br/ If you're in the area, then Peanut Butter Jelly is a great choice for fun food and atmosphere."

"Bloody oath what a wonderful place! A friend described the chicken taco as “a brilliant pop song”, fantastic from the first mouthful. The saltado beef taco however, “a true classic”, more depth and got better with every bite. The jugarita is your ticket to a brilliant evening. Great tunes and lovely staff too, a must-visit and will be back!"

"We had an unfortunate experience. We stayed at the Manly Marina Cove Motel (arrived from Western Australia), visiting our family and friends. We decided to have breakfast and meet our family at the Boardwalk Cafe and Bar at 8.30am. We ordered several hot drinks and fruit juices and varieties of meals. All our orders arrived reasonably on time. But when the lady delivered the juice, she said orange juice . We told her we ordered and paid for pineapple juice. So she went back and changed the juice. Then she arrived and delivered two hot meals, one didn 't have the mushrooms. So we said we asked for two exactly the same sour dough with avocado and added mushrooms as extra. So the lady came back again. Then my tropical fruits arrived. Before the lady left, I had to ask her where the yoghurt was? So she left, and came back again with separate yoghurt. She left again. I tasted the yoghurt and there was no sweetness and the honey was missing. So my partner lined up to ask for the honey. But was taking so long, so he decided to just get a small packet of honey spread. Terrible service. Very disappointed. I wonder if the chef or whomever is preparing the meals read or know their own menu. Great location though. Such a shame it is ruined by bad service.
