"Great tacos, very good service. My one criticism would be that the mole sauce was not as good as other Mexican restaurants in the city. It had too much chocolate flavour and felt out of place with chicken and cheese."

"I didn't plant to Calgary long ago. They say that California doesn't transplant well and I totally understand. Short, cold, icy winter days made me feel good Mexican food I grew up in Southern California. But even restaurants that were very recommended...here in Calgary fell short. Tres Marias is a modest, child-friendly institution. Family race. I like that. I'd rather support a family than a body. Besides, when people move away from home and open a restaurant, they do their best to bring authentic cooking to their new home. I have Tacos al Pastor, black beans and rice. The tacos were very generously filled with pork and pineapple. There was Guacamole Salsa on the page plus a wedge lemon. Very delish. Beans, perfectly seasoned and the rice had also cooked pieces of vegetables in it. The market has some Latin favorites, salsas, etc. There is a refrigerator with tamales, soups and other choices. The restaurant is immaculate. Service was polite and prompt. Free parking. Go NOW if you die for a good south of the border."

"Cafeteria-style food with options from a few South American countries. Everything from meats to salsas looked good, but unfortunately flavours were rather muted. Grocery side is a fun peruse for all of your home cooking needs though (3/5)!"

"We came to have dinner here, having been here multiple times before. I wouldn't call this a restaurant, it feels more like a cafeteria. However the food is really good and we really enjoy guisados (filling) such as the papas con chorizo and the carnitas. We also enjoy the pico de gallo and chips, though the chips come in a bag that is too large, you have to buy two picos to finish them all!"
