"Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem."

"Went for evening meal and the food was delicious. It was definitely no nonsense pub food but after a day walking around various lakes, it is just what was needed. The staff were really friendly, great selection of food, all served piping hot and despite significant portions, still managed room for a desert. I can thoroughly recommend the pie, it was a proper pie, no casserole with a lid, pretending to be a pie. Decor is a tad basic but if its good food, good beer and a relaxed atmosphere, you won't go wrong."

"Decided to try The Globe whilst looking at places to eat near to where we were staying and I have to say I'm so glad we chose it. The staff were so friendly and the food was delicious. One thing I will say is that the portions are HUGE"

"Have visited Scoffs on a number of occasions and can not understand how anyone could give it a bad review. Food is always gorgeous and made fresh, soooooo much choice, farmers breakfast is unbelieveable. I could go on and on about how amazing this cafe is but visit for yourself you will not be disappointed."

"We booked into this lovely boutique hotel to visit our son who works in Whitehaven. Delighted to have found such a jewel. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating and breakfast was delicious. My undyed smoked haddock and poached eggs was the best I’ve had...in a very long time. Hubby’s eggs benedict was perfectly cooked and our son’s full English was definitely enjoyed. Appears to be family run. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. It will be our go to place when visiting Whitehaven."
