"I have visited here a couple of times recently and have been pleasantly surprised. To be honest I had avoided the place as I remembered it from an earlier incarnation and not as it is today.<br/ <br/ The decor is pleasant enough, old coffee bean bags on the walls some artworks. The style may not appeal to all, but it is what it is. There are some comfy chairs near the entrance and then your standard cafe style tables and chairs.<br/ <br/ Both times I have been here the place was clearly frequented by a number of regular customers who were clearly known to the staff. However, I was greeted pleasantly and looked after by the staff.<br/ <br/ My experience of the food was that it is tasty, promptly served and of a good standard. There are one or two minor niggles though, butter comes in those horrid catering portion packs, a real hate of mine; further I felt the serving of banana on my porridge was somewhat niggardly and although my poached eggs were good, part of the bacon rasher was over cooked beyond the point of crispy. I will return as I want to try some of the cabinet food, the pork pasties having caught my eye."

"We stayed at The Angus Hotel in October 2 x adults 2 x children. The room was clean, comfortable and regularly serviced. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Yes the hotel needs some updating however the hotel was advertising that they had a plan in place for rhis to happen. Pickles the hotel mascot was a hit with the children and adults alike. Excellent location and will again stay there again"

"Been here a few times, had the ho fun, singapore noodles, rice rolls, beef tongue and tripe from the cabinet. All dishes were pretty good and you can get both chilli and soy sauces if you eat in or takeaway. The ho fun was my least favourite, not a heap of flavour in there but all the other dishes i would eat again for sure! Worth a visit, gets busy at lunch which is a good thing!!"

"Recently stayed here for work, for the price it's actually really good. Tv , comfy bed , good sized rooms with view. Shower was hard not to flood the floor but there is a floor drain so that was good. The hospitality was incredible. Such happy fun people. Easy to ask what ever is need and easy going. Really enjoyed the stay"

"One of our fave cafes in Lower Hutt! Always great coffee, incredible selection of cabinet food! Always busy but good service. Menu food is also good (usually get eggs bene). Must stop in if you're around the Hutt hospital!"
