"I visited the Pot before and enjoyed it ... This time years later it was a bit disappointing . Everything was great like before but the food experience wasn't this time . I'm not going to slag it off for the sake of it but more for the staff to improve as I want to keep coming there. I had the chilli chicken .... It wasn't spicy at all and it was cold . I know , I should have said but I'm not good at that ....The scampi was soggy ... And the plates were cold drives me nuts I'm guessing the kitchen were under pressure but it's more an observation rather than a criticism..."

"Called in for a coffee and a pork herb sausage roll. While the restaurant wasn’t overly busy, most tables were occupied and no queue at the counter. I placed my order and took my seat. I waited minutes for my sausage roll to...arrive, which was very tasty, however no sign of the coffee. I asked a member of the floor staff as to when I could expect it, to be told there was a queue for the coffee and he didn’t know how long it would be. I told him to cancel it and get me a glass of water…it never appeared. After finishing my food I got a refund for my coffee and left…for good. I won’t be back. There were length of staff working but seemingly little organization. I would hate to see this place on a busy day. I’m summary, great food let down by woeful service. There are plenty of other coffee shops in Newcastle where I will be taking my custom in future. Sorry Mauds, I won’t be back."

"Eight of us turned up for Saturday brunch and after a brief wait for a table we enjoyed delicious food with great service which was quick and friendly despite there being an obvious pressure on the staff who were flat out serving and preparing. We also enjoyed browsing the gift items for sale."

"This place has changed hands and is now the Gallery Cafe I think. The food choice is limited scones, tray bakes, cake, toasties, sandwiches, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and lemonade. No cola and no juice for kids. Service was excellent. Thankfully they now take...cards as that was my biggest bug bear last time! Here's hoping the food range will develop over the weeks as it's only just opened from Easter."

"Form the first seconds in this lodge it was very apparent that very few of the hotel staff had been trained in hospital from the the front of house right up till what I have been told was a general manager, this lady played the host and toast master at the wedding I was attending, she was sour faced and very rude to quite a few of the guests just unacceptable behaviour, the bar staff seemed miserable and the children brought in to serve the meal just weren't sure what they were doing ! Not their fault. The meal was of a poor standard could not describe the soup and the turkey was reheated and not very enjoyable, The only positive in the whole experance was the lady in the breakfast room she was lovely. I wish we had of went to a reputable hotel."
