"Very nicely decorated. the staff was friendly and efficient. eating was also good, although I must admit, I have never given coleslaw and craps with an breakfast roll!? the baked were amazing. will definitely be back."

"My friend and I had the most in the afternoon here. the best in the city. beautiful fresh sandwichs along with an obstschon and a mini strawberry cake and millionaire shortbread all for £9.95 that is for two people!"

"Went here on the 24th June 2018. There was 2 lovely members of staff working. One of the ladies was called Shannon and she was brilliant. Did not get the name of the other lady but she was lovely. The food was very nice and the place itself was bright and airy. I will go back there when I next visit Scotland."

"I hosted an Exhibition Launch yesterday for my company Drawing for Enjoyment, my whole experience in dealing with The Usual Place over the last week or so was outstanding. I have been involved in putting on Exhibitions on and off for the last 30 years, this was by far the easiest, smoothest and most uncomplicated I've experienced, all requests where dealt with the upmost professionalism, communication was easy and most of what I was going to ask to be done had already been sorted out. The Venue is beautiful and the requested lighting for the evening was perfect, nearly 50 people attended the event and without exception everyone i spoke to commented on how much they loved the setting. I cannot recommend highly enough The Usual Place, what it does for all the amazing young people that staff the restaurant and kitchen and the amazing team behind the scenes, I will be booking our next Exhibition here without any worries and look forward to dealing with Heather and Craig very soon"

"We called after hearing it was veggie. the dumfries have needed a 100% meat-free space, so we like to support it. my partner enjoyed his Thai burger and I had a nice pot tee. the prices are very cheap for a city center and the staff were polite. the reason for only three stars is that I had no idea what to order due to the bizarre menu system. each table had a printed, laminated, quite old-fashioned menu, which had typical cafe options, such as sandwiches and baked kartoffels. everything very cheesy and nothing on it was vegan marked, although the table outside said vegan options. So I asked what was vegan. I was directed to an expression on the wall that did not list any dishes, it only did it that are used in order (e.g. tofu.) so I was not so wiser what I could actually order. I did not want to sit there and say I will have the tofu there were also photos of directed at the wall, how noodle, although no vegan were labeled, although some saw as though they were likely. none of these dishes were listed on the table menu. there were also no prices on the display and no allergen information (which is now a legal requirement so I asked the person who was again, what was vegan and how to order as I was confused. they have pointed to the lists on the wall again. the whole experience was quite stressful and I have instead tee. if they produce a proper menu, the list of dishes they actually serve, labeled with vegan options and prices for everyone, I would like to return."
