"Food was cold, manager was rude, sarcastic laughed at us when we returned the food, refused to do anything about it. When I told her it wasn’t appropriate for a manager to speak to customers like this she said “I’m now refusing to speak to you” and got on with her work whilst laughing at us to her colleagues. Another staff member security guard tried talking with the manager but they couldn’t calm her down either. We ended up waiting for over an hour while another staff member tried to help (but couldn’t as the manager wouldn’t let her override her decision not to replace or refund the cold food). Whilst we were waiting the manager shouted at three other members of staff bringing one young girl with learning difficulties to tears. The staff were clearly incredibly stressed and taking this out on each other aswell as customers. We eventually left with no food and no refund hugely concerned for the vulnerable staff member left working in that environment."

"Wow! Haven’t been here for about two years as it’s just a bit of a drive for me (34 miles)! But I’m so glad I tried it again tonight as the service from both Fye and the Front of House, whose name k didn’t get. Was excellent and the food superb. I tried the prawn wrapped chicken dish and it was divine and the dressing in the presentation was fabulous! It is “just” a little expensive but the quality if the food outweighs the price l!! You must try this venue Guys! Enjoy!"

"My husband and myself went to the Orsett Hall Garden Brasserie for our anniversary. Thought it would be a lovely environment and food. Not the cheapest of places. Although we enjoyed our food the service was appalling and we was made to feel uncomfortable at the end of the evening. 1. Initially we were sat at the table promptly at 7.30 and our order was taken. We were still eating our food at 8.45 when the staff started clearing the tables around us and preparing for breakfast. 2. I ordered an icecream dessert which was described as having brandy snap basket and sauce with it. When it came out It was in a cereal bowl, I said to the waitress who went to the kitchen and brought the rest of my dessert with no icecream on it and said for me to just tip the icecream from my bowl into it, which was nearly melted. No apology was given, just said the kitchen forgot. 3. 9.15 Because they were preparing for breakfast, it was difficult to attract their attention to get the bill. 4. Not once during the meal were we asked if our food was ok. 5. The attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired as they were not customer friendly. What should have been an enjoyable evening was spoilt by the staffs attitudes."

"Been here twice and just booking a 3rd visit this week. Food is lovely, staff are lovely. Not over priced or hidden service charges added like other places I’ve had afternoon tea. Perfect atmosphere, able to hear yourself speak, yet not over crowded you can hear everyone else. A little gem, tucked away, I love it "

"Georgette, who is the team leader there, also managed to stay up and keep her cool, making a great end for a shopping trip. Always clean and if not quickly resolved at the point of announcement.... She has a good team and the everyday breakfast with chips is a bellybuster"

"We went for the Sunday roast carvery today having heard many positive reviews. This is served in the upstairs restaurant between 12 and 3 on Sundays, we booked a table for 6 at 1-30. When we arrived it was busy and most tables were full however there were plenty of staff and we received good service at the table with regards to taking our order for drinks and starters and these were served promptly. The problem we encountered was when we came to go to the carvery for our main course. There is nowhere appropriate to queue whilst waiting to be served so what happens is that everyone just snakes through the restaurant and for those unfortunate to be seated at the tables towards the back of the room this means that there is a constant line of people standing right next to them while they try to eat their meal, not pleasant at all. I was pleased that we were seated at the side of the room or we would have asked to move tables. If we should go again I would be sure to ask for a table away from the serving area and I would advise that the management look into rearranging the table layout to try to relocate the queue to a different area away from the tables. The food was of good quality though so we would be tempted to return if the layout situation was addressed."
