"Visited for a Sunday Roast with my partner. well the service to start was poor, poured red wine into a white wine glass, lemonade was flat, so choose to have a bottle, still charged considering the glass prior was flat!! a bottle, the staff...owner... said well next week the tax goes down so will be cheaper!!! Great customer service.. Not!!!! The Roast was ok. But not what you would expect for near on presentation very poor... cheese sauce just poured all over the vegetables which were very soft, the parsnips were white like boiled... The pub it self was covered in areas with cob webs, and not nice smells coming from staff, and not at all friendly... And prior to starting our meal complaints from other visitors had already been given to staff, and even a visitor had advised us prior to eating. Well to say the least I wont be visiting this place again, and advise others to be cautious if you wish to eat at this pub... with no happy friendly customer service and near on microwaved heated food... with no presentation. Such a shame.. when this happens but dont want other people having a disappointing visit... and not like it's cheap!!!"

"Awful chips to start with. Wrong in the order too supplying chicken mushrooms instead of chicken satay. Totally lacking in any flavour other than spice. I will avoid this place when i'm back this way again. As is the norm hereabouts add at least 25% to your bill."

"Very good local and not just pub restaurant. I have enjoyed many nights. inside and outside offers very good food and drinks. it offers various entertainments between board games, sporting events on a projector, music and friendly staff. well located, right outside an inner city and the main street it is easy to reach from basingstoke, reading and the surrounding areas. an option is also public transport via bus, but only suggested during the day. I want to be back and have fun."
