"From a Pavilion (Sala) to Home (Bahn). 'It 'll be at least a 45-minute wait ' said the hostess at a nearby steakhouse from the Down Unda. 'Oh look, the dining room at the Thai restaurant is open now. ' Knew nothing about Bahn Thai (Formerly Sala Thai), no expectation was set as it has been mostly misses than hit for Thai restaurant exploration. It was cold that evening, two soups kicked off the experience. Tom Jued Woon Sen Gai- clear, savory broth with clear mungbean noodle is certain to thaw your soul. Tom Yam Gai- clear (sometimes reddish) savory and sour broth with a spicy kick and hint of lemongrass/citrus to surely set your senses run wild. Pla Pad Khing- Gingerly overloaded with crispy fried fish bedding under assortment of veggies, covered with deep flavored sauce. Gaeng Panang Nuea- Beefy Curry Creamy Tasty. No other curry dishes at other Thai restaurants so far is this flavorful. The correct cut of beef was used and sliced properly. Bahn Thai (formerly Sala Thai) prepares the most AUTHENTIC Thai dishes in Greater Louisville, so far. The dishes are rich in flavor and character. Superb service. Though the ownership and the name have changed, the same family still runs the show. Skip Pad Thai and Basil Chicken (and no doubt they 're delicious here), but try different dish at every visit. Highly Recommended."

"Deliciously authentic Thai cuisine. Pretty sure they make their curries from scratch, they have a natural spice to them that my stomach can handle and even likes (which is not the case usually with processed food spiciness, which I have experienced at some less authentic Thai places in town). They make their dumplings from scratch, too. They are the best steamed dumplings I have had in a very long time. The service is good, employees are attentive. The atmosphere is very nice, a perfect place for a date or for a few friends to get together and have dinner. I am making myself hungry now, but yeah, this food is *chef's kiss*!"

"Only my second time in this place, but I was quite disappointed. I was a big, simple Thai fan since they were in a small building in St. Matthews, but that just didn't stack. Drinks were fine, but too expensive. The food was super inconsistent. My partner and I ordered both Padthai and both dishes were very different. My was sour without heat (a 3 ordered on spices). Partners were a little closer to the right flavor (but this signature simply lacked Thai sweetness) but came too sharp (she ordered a 2). Our waitress was very nice, but the service was INCREDIBLY slow. It took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks order. I thought things would accelerate after that, but it didn't. The Appetizer took even longer (actress said, "one has accidentally taken our order and they had to order again). If this was my first time with Simply Thai, I wouldn't let them go."

"Ive been eating here for over 15 years. Food is great. Employees are super nice. Definitely come visit and enjoy some good food. In response to another review left on this restaurant, my kids have been here countless times and have always been treated with respect by all the staff. The response these other kids got from staff was due to cause and effect. If you act like a little thug, you will be treated as one."

"We really wanted to like this restaurant but had a horrible experience. The atmosphere was minimal, it’s August and there are still Christmas decorations around, and felt overall dirty (floors and bathroom). It was so hot in the restaurant too and the back door was left open on a 90 plus degree day. They were very friendly but main meals came out about ten minutes apart which makes it hard to eat together. The noodle dishes were so oily that they were not edible and overly spicy even when not marked on menu. We also ordered the veggie momos. No one could get down more than one bite. Tasted mainly of cumin. We walked by the kitchen on the way to the bathroom and someone that appeared to be a cook was eating peanut butter out of the jar with their finger? Disappointed in the overall experience."
