"Alexander's French dip sandwich is the best I have ever had. It really is made from thinly sliced prime rib on a lightly toasted roll with plenty of au jus. It could not be any better."

"Came here with my mum on my lunch break from work. Ordered ten minutes after arrival, but 20 minutes after this still hadn 't had our food. There was 4 5 staff at the bar when we entered, but as soon as we had ordered, they all disappeared and just the chef was left in the kitchen. He stood chatting to the delivery guy for about 15 minutes, and then mooched about on his phone for another 5 minutes before I had to go to the desk and ask where our food was. I was told give me two nimutes , without an apology or a reason this had happened. Was then brought to us about 5 mins later by a girl who just asked is this yours? while loosely holding two plates and staring at us. We said yes, she then handed us dirty cutlery and scrunched up napkins, and grunted at us when we asked why it had taken so long. My mum asked for clean cutlery, as this was starting to become a bit silly. The girl then walked away, and I assumed she was going to speak to a supervisor to let them know we weren 't happy. NOPE. She went back to washing dishes after barley acknowledging our question and didn 't even bring the clean cutlery we asked for pretty basic stuff. I ordered a BLT and I have to say, it was a further insult after the wait and the half arsed staff. Bacon was barley cooked, 50% fat and cold. Probably would have been edible if it was warm, but there was congealed fat on it from the fridge and it looked nasty. I refused to eat it, at which point my Mum went back to the desk to complain. The manager was finally sent over to us, I told her that I had sat watching the kitchen for 20 mins before I went to ask where our food was, and that I had watched the chef not doing a lot. I had a defensive response to that, and the excuse that the girl that delivered our food was on work experience . I feel this would have been a good time to give the girl some feedback on her attitude, but then I was also told that the chef was having a bad day . I asked that they take my sandwich away as I wasn 't going to eat it, and they package my Mum 's sandwich in half as I had to get back to work. They bought me back THE SAME SANDWICH in take away box. I then took this back to the counter and told them that I wasn 't going to eat it, and was frankly responded to like I was being a nuisance. We did receive a full refund from the manager, and an apology, however just before and after this I witnessed the staff making comments and staring over at our table, and I just felt that this was a bit of a joke after the whole tragic episode. Only really one member of staff seemed at all concerned by what was happening to one of those only 3 tables of customers they had in at peak lunch time. All in all, this took an hour of my life, I left after eating half of a (overpriced) sandwich and a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be returning, and we actually spent a good amount of our wait discussing where we will eat lunch from now on. The answer is anywhere but the Cornish Food Box. How disappointing."

"Great spot for lunch. On nice day, tables outside but undercover tables outside too for dodgy weather. Staff really friendly food awesome. Great fresh choices, very large portions so just be careful when ordering. Inside is very traditional oldy worldy type Cornish pub. Great pint, realistic prices although down in Boscastle, they don't take the mickey on pricing. Dog friendly. Great walk over from Trewetthett Farm caravan motorhome site Tintagel which sits between Boscastle Tintagel on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Also a bus service for the less nimble as the walk over is quite steep in places, uneven can be quite muddy in bad weather."

"We booked a couple of weeks before our holiday to be sure to have a table. So glad we did as we saw so many people turned away as they were fully booked. Service was very efficient and friendly. A nice relaxed atmosphere too. Will definitely book again."

"As a local we regularly pop in here mainly for baguettes and coffee. Spotlessly clean and staff are friendly. The baguettes are freshly made and are delicious huge choice of fillings. Pasties, cakes, sausage rolls and much more!"

"Dropped in for lunch after the arduous walk down to the castle and back. Right next to a massive car park. Typical pub fayre with a very well-stocked bar. Had the scampi, which was superb. Dogs welcome."
