"We were on the road to Tofino and need a toilet stop, we went to the tourist information centre. In the car park was this little trailer selling samosas and chaat. Some of the best Indian food I have had, inexpensive and tasty. The owner had run a restaurant in Toronto for many years came out west to retire, got bored and opened up this little place. He said the recipes were his mothers. He runs it with his wife and does catering for weddings etc. If he is still there try the food, I had the chaat, delicious"

"We purchased our sushi dinner from Sakura Sunday August 15th before the dinner rush. We asked for extra ginger and extra spicy sauce (on our spicy tuna). I expected a charge and there was a charge for each of those but not only was there no ginger, there was no extra sauce. There wasn’t even a regular amount of sauce on the smallest rolls I have ever seen (there was hardly anything in the rolls). Our spicy tuna rolls (we ordered 6 rolls) has nothing in them and actually a drop of spicy sauce on the pieces. The tuna in them was not the worst but it wasn’t super fresh either. The dynamite rolls were awful, almost inedible. The roll was 5 super small sparse rolls with no flavour. The California rolls were pretty good overall. And the kappa rolls were TERRIBLE. The were tasteless and so stale. It would not surprise me if the were ready made rolls o just packed up for us. The edamame beans were okay, no sea salt on them. On arrival, after picking up my order I asked for extra soy sauce and they lady looked at me like I was asking her to empty the cash register. She responded by saying she had already put some in the bag. I said yes, thank you, may I please get a few more (we always get extra). She said she gave one pack per roll. I again repeated my request for more, she paused and hesitantly grab 3 more packets and put them in our bag. We were sorely disappointed in the our meal, not only were the rolls teeny and sparse, the prices went up (not atypical nowadays with restaurants recovering etc), we were charged for extras we did not get and there was almost no wasabi in our containers. We usually have extra wasabi and this time, not only was there no extra, but two people had to scrape all the wasabi out of 5 portions/meals and it still wasn’t enough. Would not recommend and we will definitely order from other sushi restaurants in Parksville next time (Sushi ichi or Nemo sushi or somewhere else for sure)."

"Visited Lefty's based on a recommendation. This place was great. Had a couple of local beer offerings, where all 3 were very tasty. We had the Rocket Fries, Poke Nachos, Chicken Wings, Crispy Chicken burger and Kids cheese burger. The Rocket fries had good flavour, the Poke Nachos were fantastic, the jalapeños tasted really fresh and had some good heat. The Poke Salmon was good, could've been more but there was still a good amount. The Wings were cripsy and they are served with sauce on the side. We had the Ancho Chiplote BBQ sauce. One little had the Crispy Chicken with regular fries. The little gave the sandwich a 11/10. Said the chicken had the right amount of crisp, was still really moist and had good flavor. The other little had the Kids cheeseburger, loved it. For dessert, there was the Worms n Dirt, and the Brownie Bomb. The Brownie Bomb was awesome, though not meant for those with nut allergies as it has a huge chunk of peanut butter in the middle. The only major knock was that it took a bit to get the food, but we were told upfront, and therefore prepared to wait."
