"After a heavy dinner at Tokyo Tokyo, my sister and I were looking for a nice warm cup of coffee. But as I caught sight of the Soya Bar stall as we went up the second floor of SM City Taytay, I suddenly thought of their silky-sweet delicious chilled taho (₱35 each) and I told her "masarap yan!" and convinced her to try it.

At first, she was incredulous just thinking of a cold version of our much-loved street fare, which is usually served hot. I couldn't blame her because I myself was a bit skeptic too when I got to have my first Soya Bar experience at Greenfield.

But just like me then, she became an instant convert too! She was kinda amazed to discover that taho can be also delicious even if it's chilled. Sorry no picture of the chilled taho as they were served to us. Instead, I just pictured the almost empty plastic cup. Hehehe.

We didn't have to go to a coffee shop or submit ourselves to expensive Starbucks stuff as we also found hot coffee at Soya Bar. That is, hot coffee with a twist: their line of Espressoy drinks also had taho in them. Taho and coffee? Why not?

We ordered the Taho Latte and the Taho Mocha (₱74 each). This was, I thought, the only coffee that we could actually eat! We were provided with a plastic spoon to better distribute the ingredients and scoop out the silken tofu, as the tofu itself could be a bit bitter. It was delicious -- and I thought it was a genius coffee concoction LOLs.

Since it is just a stall, I thought that this branch only offers chilled taho and drinks. But to my surprise (and a bit of dismay), it also offers a full menu -- just like the ones in Greenfield branch! How come I didn't know about this earlier? Soya Bar actually is one of the oldest existing stalls ever since SM City Taytay opened, methinks. Pero hindi ko to pinansin dati at ngayon lang talaga ako kumain dito hahahaha. Next time I will order my favorite Chicken Alfredo pasta. Yummy, healthy and cheap fare. Buti na lang me Soya Bar na malapit sa amin lols. :)

asecretfanfare.blogspot.com"

"We had our family dinner there yesterday to celebrate my husband's nephew's birthday. My BILs chose Gerry's because we were a pretty large group and the dining area inside was large compared to other nearby restaurants in the area. And I tried that from what we ordered yesterday.

Kare-kare I think it's flavorful as I didn't have to add a bagoong (which I don't eat). The vegetables were crispy too.

Sizzling Beef Spare Ribs It took a while to serve, but it was good and tasty too.

Pancit Canton I loved the way I can smell and taste sesame oil in their pancit!

Toasted Ice Cream My daughter ordered this for dessert and I took a bite. It was okay with me, but what they used to wrap the ice cream was tasteless, maybe so as not to compete with the ice cream and whipped cream.

The waiters were attentive and nice, even when my children used the restaurant as a playground. Although I had to ask them for extra paraphernalia (maybe ... read more "

"Ban Be Ca Phe is a Vietnamese-Filipino restaurant located at Upper Antipolo. This charming space is just a few meters shy from Robinson’s Antipolo and offers very affordable Vietnamese dishes. The cafe, technically, has three parts: a veranda, and inside a dining area at the right side and a traditional Vietnamese sitting area on the left side, which, in my opinion, gives so much Kumbaya vibes. LOL Kidding aside, I find the interior both creative and unique. I went here last May 27th with my mom to have lunch.

I haven’t had breakfast yet when we got there, meaning, I haven’t had my morning fix. So the first thing I ordered is their signature Vietnamese iced milk coffee, otherwise known as Ca Phe Sua Da. It was served in a glass with a layer of condensed milk and topped with a classic Vietnamese tin coffee drip. You’d have to wait for the coffee to fully drain before pouring it in a taller glass with ice. It was both fun and delicious. Did I also mention that it only costs 65php? Oh, yes! It’s relatively cheaper than the other Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to. My mom ordered a tall glass of Honeydew Lemonade which costs 85php. It was refreshing, according to her.

Then we ordered a serving of Hu Tieu Xao which is a stir-fried noodle dish with a twist. Instead of vegetables and tofu, Ban Be Ca Phe’s version is pretty similar to a Filipino dish we are all familiar with. Generously topped with carrots, lettuce, onions, meat, and squid, this dish will totally remind you of a classic Pancit. It’s good and costs 110php. Not too bad, in my opinion, but I find it quite typical Filipino than Vietnamese.

We also ordered Bun Thap Cam (150php), Goi Cuon (90php), and fried Goi Cuon — which could totally pass as Lumpiang Shanghai. Bun Thap Cam is a bed of vermicelli noodles topped with meat and vegetables. Ban Be’s version was a rice noodle base, topped with vegetables, tofu, meat, and peanuts which I find a lovely combination. Goi Cuon, also known as Vietnamese spring rolls, is well… spring rolls packed with vermicelli noodles, shrimp, and lettuce. Ban Be’s spring rolls are actually very delicious and satisfying, I highly recommend it. Oh, and yes, the fried version, which only costs 110php, was generously packed with vermicelli noodles, carrots, and ground meat. It’s addicting.

Lastly, we tried both of their chicken (130php) and tofu sisig (100php), and I’m so glad we did. If you’re a fan of the dish, you should definitely try Ban Be’s sisigs. They’re not only reasonably priced and delicious but also generously portioned.

I am more than satisfied to have dined here at Ban Be Ca Phe. Their food is delicious, I wouldn’t say exactly too authentic but each dish was done with a twist that makes it special. Not only that, their staff were really attentive and nice to us all throughout. This place is perfect for a lunch with family or friends, or to hang out in the evening with friends over a bucket of beers at their veranda."

"The first and only time we ate at this Giigan branch was in 2015 when they were only months old. My husband wanted grilled food for dinner so we made our way over here. There was a waiting list in the restaurant. There were vacant tables outside and the mall's air conditioning was cooler than Giligan's, so we agreed to eat outside.

On the table
Sizzling Beef in Sinigang Sauce - Beef was fried very hard and some pieces were very difficult to chew. The vegetables were crispy. The sauce was sour and sweet. Skip this dish.
???? Chicken Yakitori - soft and juicy chicken fillets with a tasty peppery marinade
???? Miki Bihon Guisado - nothing special
Grilled pusit - it had an odd aftertaste that made us wonder if it was fresh ???? Bulalo, free soup - lack of taste
Orange juice - this turned out to be pineapple orange juice that tasted like Del Monte. They didn't bother to let us know, nor did they apologize when we pointed this out ... read more "

"Pipino is now open again for din in, but I decided to eat in the car as I had my pet with me. Hopefully, more restaurants can stay pets with their owners while eating. I ordered her eotido with pineapple frying and it was delicious! it was suggested by the one who helped my order and I think it was perfect. it was easy to eat (no chaos from sauces and not difficult to eat with takeout cutlery) and it was very tasteful! the meal was savory and sweet, and the textures were a joy to experience soft sticky rice, crispy vegetables, crispy on the outside emponido. it will order again."
