"Located near Central Station, African Queen is a small but lovingly run restaurant for African cuisine. However, some Indian dishes are also on the menu. The amiable owner Gerry welcomes his guests warmly and invites them to a nice evening. So I first ordered a chai (East African spiced tea with milk), which was served to me warm. It was prepared by hand and served with cane sugar. It was not a ready-made powder and tasted very spicy, a little hot in the aftertaste. For starters, I ordered an avovado tomato salad, which tasted very fresh but was a little different from what I was used to, however this was not a fault. For my main course, I ordered Lamb Choma (Kenyan seasoning) with vegetables and Kelewele (fried plantains). The dish was served with a medium hot sauce and tasted delicious overall, with the mild spiciness rounding it out perfectly. The meat was very tender and the kelewele were well fried. For dessert, we had chilli chocolate cake and chestnut cake (made from Castian flour). The cake was served with a chilli pepper, and I would give as a tip to bite off only the tip, then you have some spiciness in the background, which gives a super flavour composition. Overall, still quite good value for money by Zurich standards. In any case, I had a tasty and enjoyable evening!"

"Working in Zurich for a week. Just what I needed, a quiet setting with a great menu. I was in the mood for something simple and wholesome (I'd missed lunch running between meetings) and the minestrone soup was a good starter. Followed up by Risotto that was truly impressive. The portions were not too big and the choice of local beers was a bonus. Attentive service coupled with a relaxed environment.As ever the price in Switzerland is eye watering but it was no more expensive than any other good quality restaurant in Zurich. Recommended if you are in the mood for good simple food cooked well. I liked the fact that the background music was in the background and the free Wi-Fi was very fast."

"Good vegetarian food with clear allergen labels in the menu. I had one problem there, so dropped two stars. The waitress gave me an alcohol free beer of the same brand when I asked for gluten free beer. Initially, she said it was both alcohol and gluten free, but came back and switched it after checking with a manager. I think they need to improve training, so be careful to ask if what they bring you is definitely gluten free."
