"To begin, I am not exaggerating any part of this story. I am relatively new to this area. Walking by Whole Foods at GWU I decided to stop in. My last four visits there have all sucked because of the system they use for check out. I have three items. How bad can it be. Thirty minutes later, seriously, thirty minutes later I make it to the register. I would have left but it meant leaving frozen foods to thaw. So I chose the morally correct choice, stick it out. And you are trapped anyway because of people crammed in a narrow path to registers. Once I got to the front of the line, only four registers were staffed, I noticed number 18 had its own line with four people in, taking one of the four check outs out of service for our line. Our lines wrapped the coolers. That line stayed small and new people kept coming into it. When I reached my register I asked the staff if 18 were a separate line. She said yes. I asked to speak to the manager. I was hot, tired and my food was thawing. The manager, Abraham, explained that when people come to the end of the regular lines, they tell those people to go around to 18. I could not believe that they let the people in the regular line keep Standing in line but the new people who walk up get checked out first. Yep. That is the way they do it. Screw the people who got in line first! That is 30 minutes I will never get back. Hell will freeze over before I ever go back to that Whole Foods. Ever. They should absolutely change this terrible system for check out. Wouldn't it be smarter to dedicate the four limited staff they have to first come first serve. Smarter but doubtful they care."
