"The food was good, the ambience was nice, but the value and service was missing. I feel at the price of nobu signature, they should serve more than just salmon, groupers, mussels and shrimps. These are all relatively cheap seafood, we have received the smallest piece of caviar, but definitely not enough to balance the value. Service was another problem I had. At the beginning of the meal I was told that I felt free to ask any questions, and so I did, although my server felt like I was annoying them with them. On another note, the detailed explanations of the accompaniment of the arrival of our foods were not matched to my expectation of Nobu. I told things like: white fish (several times until I asked what was exactly the white fish), and said the rock shrimp shell should be accompanied with shishtake mushrooms, my dish had no. When I kindly asked to have the mushrooms I was told about, the server was willing to fire my dish again. Although, to my disappointment I received the dish and had only a quarter of fungus to eat with all shrimps on the plate. As I said, the food was good (not excellent), the ambience was beautiful. But that's why I felt the value and service was missing. Disappoint."

"Finally get the chance to write this review as I was very determined to do so someday after I get home. THE MIX. There were five of us. We were sat next to the window facing the great views over the harbour. A bit on the bright side during Sunday afternoon so lowering some blinds would help. Food was good, but just as expected. Good portions (varieties) to fill us up. I’ll let the attached photos speak for themselves. The setting and deco looks odd. Round tables are not common in Japanese cuisine. When we were seated, the table was plain bare no utensils, plate, glass when we sat down. Felt like we sat in between someone setting up a table in a rush dim sum restaurant – in a supposedly Japanese restaurant lacking details. THE BAD. What was upsetting was, the afternoon set was supposed to come with drinks. We were chatting a bit and became thirsty. Noticing our drinks somehow took an extended amount of time to arrive and there was nothing on our table, so we’ve asked the waitress can we have some water please. Waitress asked us whether we wanted sparkling and we promptly said no, just regular water. She then brought us bottled Fiji water inside a metallic container, then we realize we are going to get charge an unknown amount for it (approx. HKD$120 for a 1L). The price was not written in their menu and the waitress also failed to inform us of the charge. My complaint in form of a question is, a restaurant that charges 300+/person seriously can’t even afford to give out some very basic water to a customer like any restaurant would? No matter how good that afternoon tea was, it left us with a sour taste and a terrible impression. I don’t care what the norm in HK is, it just shows poor hospitality, poor taste, poor gesture and they would like their customers to just suck it up. The food was good; but NOBU has lost all their points to their greediness and cheapness – that’s all I can remember whenever someone asked me about the experience."
