"We've had lunch twice here recently using Scoopons ($100 worth of food and drink for $49). The staff have been friendly and welcoming and the decor is quirky and interesting (wallpaper on the ceiling with a black background and a red roses and pistol motif!). On our first visit we had Classico and Tommy's margaritas ($18 ea), favouring the Classico. They are quite small for the money. We had the beef shortrib, grilled lamb, grilled salmon, and beer battered barramundi tacos ($8 ea), all quite good, the beef shortrib being our favourite. We also ordered the Four Styles of Salsa ($3) which were nice with the tacos. Three salsas were mild and one, the habanero, very hot. On our second visit we wanted a bottle of the sole rose' ($40), but they were out. The manager advised that they were out of bottles of three of the five red wines on the list, so we ordered the Pinot Noir. We were brought a glass instead of a bottle, and were told it was on the house because there was not a bottle of it. And the only red wine on the list that they had a full bottle of was the Shiraz ($50). Petaringa McLaren Vale was the Shiraz on the list but we were served a Palladium Coonawarra Shiraz, which was fine. The manager knocked 10% off the cost of the wine because they were out of everything. To start we had the delicious, freshly-made guacamole and tortilla chips ($12), followed by the wonderful chicken quesadillas ($16). Often quesadillas are thin and contain hardly anything inside, but these were generously stuffed. We also had the pork chilaquiles ($24), really tasty pulled pork, green tomatillo sauce, refried beans, melted cheese, sour cream, queso fresco, guacamole, and pico de gallo on tortilla chips. The three dishes were nearly too much for the two of us to eat. There are four Mexican beers on the menu ($7.50 - $10). We really like this place. The food is delicious and the staff is great. It is an especially great deal with the Scoopon. They just need to get their wine ordering sorted out."

"What a quaint neighbourhood gem so glad we came out into Fitzroy - well worth the visit. The area has lots of great bars and restaurants. We dined early as had been waking all day - the restaurant was empty so hopefully it picked up later in the night. Plenty of blackboard choices with week nights being cheaper we had 3 courses each for $25 - weekends they charge $30. We ordered Piadina with roast capsicum and chips with morrocan spice to get us started followed by Lamb ribs with caramelised chilli pepper and grilled polenta with chilli and smoked porcini. For mains went for the l Tortilla with pork andOsso bucco with root veg and mash. No complaints at all for value, taste and atmosphere."

"On the upper side of the peter mac sickenhaus is a practical food stop with great prospect. a large part of the food is prefabricated, but of great quality anyway. I had a roasted sweet baguette and found it of great size and full quality. prices are good."
