"We stopped at this restaurant by chance on our way back from visiting Chitchen Itza, and I am so glad we did!We were unsure at fist when we walked in, as the other customers were all Mexican, and it looked a bit basic. There was a menu board on the wall which we didn't really understand and had no prices on. The owner came over and asked us what we wanted, then explained what the poc chuc was. We could have chicken, pork or beef.What arrived was a lovely creamy bowl of soup, frijoles I think, some amazing tortillas, and the really tasty grilled chicken breast and pork.The serving staff were all patient with our lack of understanding or Spanish!The eventual bill was 440 pesos for one of the best meals we had on our trip.By the time we left, the restaurant was virtually full with locals, one other table of foreigners."

"We were staying just around the corner from this little hole in the wall taqueria and stopped in one afternoon for a late lunch to take back to our room. Amazed at the quality of our tacos. A bit more expensive at each than...some other taquerias but more than worth it. The traditionally dressed ladies making the fresh tortillas behind the small counter were a good sign but the tortillas themselves were thick and sturdy and perfectly cooked. The carnitas tacos were among the best I’ve ever eaten!"

"We enjoyed breakfast every day down in the courtyard while we stayed at Maria de la Luz. The buffet has the usual cold cereals, fruits, coffee and juices and features a chef prepared to cook your eggs or omelettes any way you may ask. Suggest you ask for meal vouchers when booking the hotel."

"I'm pleasantly surprised that I can find this establishment on Trip Advisor. If you are on the road and need a bite to eat, you have a few choices here, which is unusual for a "rest stop" type of joint. Very clean rest rooms are part of the attraction. There is an assortment of packaged food, including sandwiches made on-site that morning. If you have just a few more minutes, I highly recommend stepping over to the kitchen area, where they will make you a variety of food which is suitably packaged for the car, or, you can sit down and eat it in the small dining area. The selection was much better than I expected; I had baked chicken, which was delicious. Plenty of cold water and drinks are available as well, and the staff is cheerful and happy to get your business. We had 20 people and were in and out of there in less than 15 minutes."

"This is not a place a casual tourist would stop. It looks kind of seedy from the road. Actually it looks pretty seedy when you are inside as well. This is NOT fine dining. But it is great food!. Few choices: grilled pork, chicken or beef (or any combination); whole black beans or pureed into a soup (colado); hand-made tortillas (with and without lard... the lard ones are the best!). And freshly prepared salsa with grilled onions. One brand of beer or a soft drink. The have recently added some desserts but I have not tried them. Saturday and Sunday afternoons the place is full with locals, including some of the local politicos. There are NO concessions to tourists here."
