"My husband and I dined at Toscana last night, and it was disappointing. We were seated early which was great and much appreciated! We started with the formaggio skillet which was good-kind of a cross between queso fundido and spinach dip. For our mains-I had the short rib. I always order short rib when it is available-this was probably my least favorite I’ve ever had. It could have used a little more time to tenderize. The veggies and polenta served with it were woefully under seasoned. The veggies were also, in my opinion, seriously undercooked. I love a roasted Brussels sprout but I don’t know where they were going with these. My husband’s filet, which he ordered rare, came out medium. He never sends back food or complains (leaves that to me clearly lol). Then, dessert. I ordered the butterscotch budino, he ordered the zeppoles. After quite a wait, we were told that they were out of what I ordered but “good news, your husband’s dessert is big enough to share!” Well, if I’d wanted what he ordered, we would have planned on sharing to begin with. The chocolate mousse was my replacement and it was fine. He only ate a couple of his zeppoles-also fine. The ambiance is great in this spot, it’s just that the food is lacking. There was another situation about which I will communicate with the restaurant privately, but their staff needs a little more training in a couple of areas. We rarely get a date night, so the food was a bummer, but still nice to spend time together."
