"We had lox and dragon sandwiches for breakfast and it was good. Update: after visiting this place a few times I can say that food here is decent but the wait is always long and even makes you want to cancel your order. We waited 30 min for a bagel and breakfast burrito and a half of potatoes in it was undercooked. I can't recommend this place because it takes so long to get the food ready. Also, it is not open at the time they advertise. I was working in the area and wasted time coming over, just to find it still closed."

"Ultimate grounds is a institution. Their menu seems unchanging and gigantic, everything is yummy, and the cafe has such a sweet community vibe. The old owners were so kind and hardworking and Im glad to see their son continuing to work at the business."

"Located in Rockridge/North Oakland, this neighborhood gem won 't disappoint. It is also the little sister of Wood Tavern, which is located next door. Before we get to the menu and the food, I need to mention how stylish this place is. Great spot for a mid-day lunch by yourself, with a date, or for a quick business meeting with a nice selection of beers on tap a couple of wine options. You can sit at the bar, which gives you a high end diner experience w/o the price, the wall area is perfect for a solo lunch, or at the bar to ceiling window which opens directly to the street. Sitting at the bar watching the orders being cooked reminded me of #WaffleHouse (those who know about WF will understand this next point), if WF had an A rating and a high casual vibe, Southie would be it. Now to the food. You can rework anything on the menu to make it into your own remix or even make any of the sandwiches into salads. Either way if it 's on the menu they 'll make it your way. We got the Turkey panini and the fried chicken romaine salad. Wow and and amazing can 't even capture how good the food is here. The salad I got wasn 't the salad I had pictured in my mind (pre-order), but I was more than satisfied with the flavor of the salad that arrived. The fried chicken was amazing, almost reminded me of catfish nuggets. The turkey panini was really good and comes on Acme bread, which I here is another Oakland must-have. Overall would highly recommend checking this place out. You won 't be disappointed."

"Nomad cafe is a neighborhood stop. the owners and employees are always friendly and they learn their names quickly when they visit regularly. we have been patrons of nomad for ~5 years and we eat their banh mi sandwiches at least once a week. so they also noticed our order. as 9-year-old vegetarian, her tofu band mi is one of the best I ever had. the sweet are fresh and let me tell them not to skip on bread quality. have you ever had semifreddis brot? (think: freshly baked brotregale in Berkeley-Schale) now, that is the brot that they get with the banh mi and it is perfection (not like the polyfoam vehicles for veggies that they could put from others.) at least I buy a banh mi each time when I go for a day hike, and that is because they are well packed sandwiches, high quality. When you look at my photos, I brought them after to walk 5 miles up and throw my backpack a few times. they will notice: the banh mi looks perfectly ready to be eaten next to a stream in the redwoods. many thanks to nomad that he drove me through hiking, cycling and at least a super long trail runway"

"Recently moved here and visited their establishment. Warm and courteous service, they double checked my order and and offered ideas to suite what I was looking for. I bought 4 subd and a sandwich and I can say the bread was great the meat and toppings were fresh as well. I enjoyed enjoyed it and I can't wait to visit again. They are a small shop with big service and taste"

"Love the vegan mac from Homeroom. Is it the best mac n cheese I've ever had? No. But is it still something worth trying? Yes! There are tons of toppings you can add to your mac that really make it (including vegan sausage). The cheese sauce could definitely use some help, but I love that they are trying to be more inclusive."
