"I visited this restaurant yesterday with two friends. We were offered the lunch menu button were only looking for some soup and sandwiches, this was kindly facilitated. The restaurant was very cold inside, but considering it had just opened we accepted this. Our toasted sandwiches were cold as the tomato was cut so thickly that it didn't even warm up let alone cook. The chips tasted of old very used cooking oil and the token side salad was a leaf of lettuce with some tasteless salad dressing poured over. On the plus side the coffee was good and the staff were accommodating. I was very disappointed as I remember the island gate from my childhood as a place where you could hardly get a table for lunch at the weekend, the food was beautiful however this was not our experience yesterday. Will give it a try another day maybe at a busier time."
