"We have came here 8 times in a matter of about 6 months-1 year. The food has always been good. I wouldn 't say it 's the best bbq I 've ever had but it 's good for corpus restaurants. Now the reason I 'm leaving this review is the lack of supplies and the horrible management/service I have encountered while visiting Salty Oak. I had a sit down with the new Manager Mark last time I brought our family for a Mother 's Day lunch. I explained to him that even that time that I was there they were ALWAYS out of an item. Whether it be sweet tea, pickles macaroni, it 's multiple things. He told me that he would assure that this get brought to the owners attention and they would be stocked up. Well again today I brought my girlfriend to eat when we were going to go to Rudy 's since we live closer to Rudy 's but we went to Salty Oak because we had a good feeling about the new Manager Mark. Again today they were out of traditional pickles like your everyday bbq place has and the drink machine was down. We didn 't get service until 15 mins of sitting down and that was after speaking to Mark making sure he knew we were back to visit and eat. He could not accommodate anything with us not being able to drink what we wanted and when we got up to leave and told the other manager with glasses and a mustache that we would never come back and he said that 's okay you 're one in a million, it won 't hurt us. If he had accommodated me for something he would 've probably kept me as a customer but not only did you lose out on the entire meal we didn 't eat but a customer and a whole bunch Of people to follow. Take care and GOOD LUCK Maybe this is why we are literally the only people in the restaurant each time we go and y 'all had a tv promotion going today to help boost business."

"Just a warning .. everything is fine with the place .. clean .. friendly .. but they don 't have all the wonderful options on the menu .. you got like maybe 5 options of sandwiches .. I watched a few ppl come in ask for an order and get told they don 't have all the options and only had some basic stuff and people would just leave .. me and my friend stayed and just had a good laugh about it .. and said that 's how they get ya! Make a great menu to lure you in and then say jk just these simple options .. cuz the hungry ppl like us are just gonna settle for the turkey Swiss sandwich!! Lol .. which was good by the way .."

"Two Meat Smoked Potato were great!! The dasher individual put the 2 drinks right by the door and couldnt open the door without spilling them which I had to....very disappointed..."

"Enjoyable experience. Our waiter David was great! My steak was cooked just like I like it and full of flavor, the cream of mushroom soup was terrific, and the fries were good. Hubby's ribs were enormous and so tasty; his mashed potatoes were yummy and the first were good. Definitely an excellent all-around experience."

"Brisket was good. Chicken had good flavor but was dry. Pork ribs seemed to be from the day before. Dark and dry. Beans were good, potato salad had too much stuff in it, just not for me. Friendly staff and prices are reasonable. Would go back."

"Maybe it was just a bad night in the kitchen. the service was okay. eating tastes good. but. a fire on the grill made them have to have a steak plate we ordered and we were not told until we got our food. the huh for a plate we ordered was very underdonated in the middle. the butter tastes for the baked potato as if she had gone bad. a side table had to let a mushroom cup go back. not sure why, they offered to rotate it, but the customers said no."

"Great food for a good price! This place feeling like it is stuck in time with a good old feeling . My steak was done over open fire. You can tell the quality of the meat was at least mid tier, but with the seasoning and open flame it just elevates it to the next level. The staff are friendly and quick to check on you. The plates are huge to boot. This is a place you need to go to!!!"

"Decided to take a bite to eat with my nonvegan brother and we settled in this place. Don't get me wrong I tried the ones in the RGV in McAllen, Tx and it was fantastic, but this place was not great at all and I could see why it's hardly busy. I ordered the steamed Buddha dish with brown rice and there were more vegetables than tofu. I want to say that 99% of the plate were the veggies, while 1% were thin strips of small tofu pieces. If I went back, I would just order more tofu on the page because it was a sad meal. "
