"Had some hopes in view of some positive reviews, but from the moment they go and see the menus they have their doubts. literal 2 minutes noodle, in a bladder broth, with preserved garnish and tasteless fat pork/rib. edamame directly from the microwave. no char or salt. the worst was the deep-fried gyoza. I mean, come on, who doesn't know how to cook potstickers. zero authenticity, student dinner best. go 100m in every direction and find them much better eating."

"My partner and I had dinner here last Friday. The restaurant is around the university lodges and mainly serves students, so the prices are very reasonable. The food preparation area is open to the restaurant so the restaurant did smell of the food being prepared. Not off putting but not welcomed either. The service was good and we quickly had our orders in front of us. Both of our meals were of a satisfactory standard and both cost around $16. My partners vegetable shabu shabu was excellent and the produce was very fresh. I had the a pork curry which was also OK but not as filling. I would recommend this restaurant but stick to the shabu shabu dishes!"

"The dish is a bit more expensive than average Asian or noodle restaurants, but the ingredients are also fresher. I ordered a vegetarian stir fried noodle, the vegetables were fresh in colour and taste. Food was served fast."

"Great food in Lonsdale! The fish is fresh and good, best sashimi I have found in Canberra (after searching for more than a year). Tried the tacoyaki (battered octopus), the wasabi marinated octopus, mixed sushi, mixed sashimi and they were all great! And do yourself a favor and try the oysters: they have a great balance between sauce/seasoning and flavor. Last time I went they had also sake in promotion which is pretty nice for a hot summer afternoon, chilled and not very sweet. However, would recommend a menu that lets know all the great flavors that you can taste in each dish! It is real and good quality food. Have and will come back again"

"I have dined at this restaurant several times and have consistently found the food to be delicious and the service to be excellent. The restaurant has demonstrated remarkably consistent quality over time. However, my most recent visit had an unfortunate element that detracted from the overall experience. Throughout our meal, the chef was loudly scolding staff members, speaking in a mix of English and Japanese. As a result, it was obvious to all diners that there was conflict occurring in the kitchen. This created an unpleasant ambient atmosphere that undermined the enjoyment of the dining experience. Despite this stress, the staff members continued delivering professional and attentive service. The food quality remains superb and the staff are consistently friendly, helpful and professional. However, the aggressive way the chef addressed employees really marred the dining ambiance. While ensuring quality is important, there are more constructive ways to communicate that do not compromise customer satisfaction or staff morale. I hope the chef will reflect on how their behavior impacts the restaurant environment and seeks a more positive approach. When dining out, part of the experience is the comfortable mood created, and this could be improved."

"We have always enjoyed both lunch, where the lunch boxes are very tasty and good value, and dinner where the a la carte menu is terrific. Today we had the tempura udon soup and the chicken Katsu lunch boxes and both were great. The udon soup is a winter special and it was great. Highly recommend it.We love this restaurant and think that the lunch boxes are very good value."

"The food was lovely, but was let down by poor service. We had a 5 minute wait before the staff could be bothered showing us to our table, followed by a wait of 20 minutes to order (after we approached someone who was clearing tables). Our loose leaf tea took 20 minutes to arrive, and was too strong and lukewarm, having obviously waited some time to be delivered.At no point during our meal did we revive any service without actively seeking it, including having to try quite hard to get anyone to take our money at the end.They were busy. However, this seemed to mainly be due to take away, rather than people eating in, who had made bookings. And the staff just didn't seem interested.Such a shame to let down the great food."
