"The best japanese food i ever had in sydney (i mean, locally this place is amazing for us). Food was great, staffs were friendly and the place is homie. We ordered 1 set of unagi don (great portion, including eel rice, miso soup and salmon sashimi) for 28$. Takoyaki is great, too. Could have ordered warm sake but, the meal was great. Highly recommended"

"Delicious bento boxes, great flavours and one of the best customer service I've had. There were delays with our orders and they were very apologetic and gave us a free serving of edamame. Surprised to see some banchan worth a try"

"The fried chicken is the best I’ve found (even better than fancy places like Flying Tong). Boneless garlic soy with Kim Chi on top is the best combo! The spicy is quite sticky and not very spicy (but also yum in a different way)."

"Paper Bird's menu has amazed me as to how delicious chinese japanese korean australian food can be. A must try would definitely be the prawn toasts which was a huge surprise to us. Though I'd want to love it 100%, there were of course some strange combinations and letdowns. Amongst it all was the beef tartar which in our opinion felt very heavy, yet bland on its own having it purely raw with an added raw egg. I'd only wish they hadn't mess around too much with the beef."

"With a current world understanding of the impact of meat production on global warming, it’s no surprise to see plant based cafes popping up around Sydney. Although we’re not Vegans or Vegetarians, we do enjoy having days without and appreciate a plant based diet. When we heard about ‘The Font Café’ in Chippendale, we were keen to check it out. We went early on a chilly Saturday morning and got a seat with no trouble. Natural light and decorated with potted plants and it is a cosy little space. Staff are warm and welcoming and offer us a drink as we peruse the menu. The food is certainly instagrammable, but it’s more than that – it is damn tasty food too. Their all day menu is Vegetarian but also has Vegan options and they can adjust meals for those with allergies. Beginning with a few brekkie favourites, there’s the crowd favourite, an acai bowl as well as granola. The granola was home-made and nice and flavoursome and served with a really nice yoghurt, seasonal fruit and coconut chips. We both thought this was a quality version of a granola. The Font Café offers a Veggie Big Brekkie (with soy bacon), egg Florentine served in a croissant and avo bruschetta. However it’s their creative dishes that really stand out. They have a vege soy duck sandwich, messy enoki mushroom dish and even a vege soy laksa. It’s great to see the vibrancy of the dishes on offer and the plant based meals are certainly quality. We liked the ‘Hu-Tong’s noodle’ (Vegan and gluten free), a Beijing style soy bean paste noodle, cucumber, bean sprouts and corn. From the sweets options, they have orange/lemon pancakes but we ended with their signature dish, the ‘Wiggly Puff’ – the famous soufflé pancake. Now we’re a big fan of soufflé pancakes and this one hits the mark and is one of the best we’ve had. Light and fluffy, served original, strawberry or with cookies and cream. We went for the latter option, topped with a creamy sauce, served with chocolate ice cream and cookie crumbs. Get in early and order this upfront as it’s a 20 minute preparation, but it is absolutely worth the wait. Note they only serve these between 9am and 11 am or 1:30-3pm to due to time constraints. The drink menu has the typical milk based coffees, black coffee, organic teas, as well as a few special drinks. We enjoyed an original latte as well as a red velvet latte, which was thoroughly enjoyable. There’s a couple of smoothies too, and we recommend the ‘Super Green Detox’ for a health kick. It is made with pineapple, banana, celery, cucumber, spinach, ginger and water and it is super refreshing. If you head to the café, tag them on insta to get a free coffee. We thoroughly recommend a visit to The Font Cafe and hope you like it as much as us"
