"Classic British cuisine is not one that you find thrown into the mix in the Sydney food scene all that often beyond our gastropubs – which is somewhat surprising given our city’s colonial heritage. So we were pleasantly surprised to find it front and centre on the menu when we visited Kitchen by Jamie, a casual restaurant on a quiet suburban strip in Maroubra that was recently visited by British celebrity chef Rick Stein who sounds like he was searching for some decent British fare in Sydney when he was last here. Owner chef Jamie Dyball is also from the United Kingdom and celebrates this through his cooking, using quality ingredients to showcase contemporary renditions of British classics like his popular Sunday Roast. There’s also some hints of French influence on the menu, like the deliciously indulgent Duck Pate with red onion relish and homemade brioche that we started off our dinner with."
