"An underrated space to stop for coffee and cake, then buy some plants for the garden. lunch or breakfast options are good. always happy to support their work instead of a large commercial outlet. the latest renovation adds a lot. the new walled garden is a great place to run around for a coffee with space for the children. good options for gluten-free and vegan. dog-friendly. recommended."

"Here for a late lunch with some friends, as one of them had about 40% discount on main course good! result! at least I went for the T-Knochen-Streak (mean rare, with beautiful, crispy and fluffy chips, wobble rings and the rest came! the steak itself was chef absolutely good and I really enjoyed the meal. especially at this price! it only gets 4 stars, as not with some of the best steaks I've ever had. they also try their sundaes if they have a sweet tooth and if they can manage one! but destined to visit, as eating is very good overall."

"Visited for the 1st time on 4th June 23. Attentive staff, very professional table service. Ordered a toast beef dinner, generous portion of beef cooked beautifully, very juicy. Probably the best I've ever had with any roast dinner, anywhere! 3 for atmosphere as we ate outside, not inside but it was very relaxing. Just be mindful if it's your first visit that you have to announce your visit and vehicle registration at reception. I hadn't noticed the sign at the entrance, its quite high up, nor did the staff advise of this despite me and my friend being one of a few guests to arrive early and so I have had to obtain a statement from my bank to prove that my debit card was used as payment at the rubbing House and am appealing against the £100 penalty charge that came through my door. Apart from that, for an indulgent Sunday Roast treat, and exceptional service, highly recommend and I will be going back again!"

"Coughlans are known for their massive vegan baked treats (donuts, pastries, cookies, medals, cupcakes, sausage style rolls, Cheez onions, vegan bacon pasties, vegetable milk for drinks, etc.). Nice friendly staff, business always looks clean. There is a comment below about the vegan items not to be vegan, that sounds just like a case of out date labelling, so instead of leaving a bad review, it is likely better to only inform them if you see something confusing, or the staff directly ask how they have no doubt an allergen book. Sean Coughlan (from Coughlans) is very active on social media, so it is probably better to mention what an innocent mistake could be, instead of putting a business that is very hard trying to veganize its reach. The main down to Coughlans is that as a lunch place it is all very “daughter” food. They used to sell a really nice hummus/pepper sandwich, but stopped selling it a long time ago. It would be good to see that back, and maybe something like a vegan cream cheese / spinach wholemeal sandwich etc."
