"We had a different meal we shared. Everyone was very tasty. The roast pumpkin was a mixture of flavors and very well cooked. The salt and pepper calamari was very delicate with many excellent salads with a delicious dressing. The flathead fillets were also great. If you don't like crispy vegetables, you'd be disappointed. The venue was quite loud, but overall this is a place that always seems to have excellent food and I would recommend a visit."

"I've been buying from here for a while now for several reasons. Firstly, their food is fantastic. Second, the staff are always courteous and friendly. Third, the prices are competitive. Fourth, the food is always delivered hot and finally, their ordering website. This is brilliant. If you want food early, order during the day when they're still closed the order still goes through and yours in one of, if not the first to be delivered. The site is incredibly easy to use, can be used for both collection and delivery AND you gain reward points for every pound you spend. Can't fault anything about the shop highly recommended."

"First time at the Boat House and definitely won’t be my last. Firstly I was very impressed with the general atmosphere and decor of the place and secondly the general service of the staff. The Roast dinner was huge and well worth £13.95 with very succulent meat plenty of vegetables and gravy. I couldn’t give 5 stars as the meal could have been hotter but generally we were very impressed and will recommend and return."

"I love this place. Full stop! Living in a small town like Rochester when a new business opens selling exactly what you have been missing you pray it does well! Austen's of Rochester is a like a local farm shop green grocers selling directly from the local farms. I have never been dissatisfied and they continue to expand their lines. Also I'm happy to say I'm far from the only person that feels this way, the shop is a big success in our little town. The vegan range is expanding here including award winning Vigo Mayo and dip brand “A Little Bit” and now selling a range of dog shampoo and grooming products called ‘Pup Suds’ (recently featured in Vogue magazine) which are made locally, vegan, cruelty free and 100% natural. They stock a lot of Italian pasta sauces and tinned beans and pulses that are suitable for vegans. The artisan breads are incredible. For vegetarians- the locally produced cheeses are great too (I had them when I was a vegetarian). I have a very fussy vegetarian French boyfriend who was really shocked at how good the cheese is here and he is really fussy about his fromage. Also the locally produced eggs are great and there are photos to see how the chickens (living in the Kent woodlands) are treated (the shop owners met all the farmers they work with to check conditions of the animals). When I was a vegetarian this was the only place I would buy eggs. The fruit and veg are all locally sourced from surrounding farms, many of the produce is organic, the fruit juices are natural and also produced locally. They have started selling some great oils, tinned organic beans, chickpeas and jars of local honey and pesto etc as well. The staff are really friendly and helpful. As its a small business the owners of the shop work here too and I think that really makes the difference as they are passionate about the quality of food they sell. For busy people that can't pop down to the shop, you can buy a fresh fruit and veg box that Austen's will deliver to your door. You can order this online or in the shop. Basically I can't recommend it enough and the prices aren't that bad either! Updated from previous review on 2018-03-28"

"Large selection of beer, beautiful people behind the bar and friendly service. amazing garden for families it is a dream place. dog-friendly and the natives also seem like beautiful people. I would definitely go back, I highlighted my thoughts below. the service at the bar was incredibly slow and drinks were expensive. there was clearly a rush of people before we came there and there seemed a bit of a clean mission in the bar. I respect that totally, only for us, it was incredibly slow and we went one. minutes, with employees and about customers, we were a bit confused and waited just patient to be served. starter: we had the Hiumi-Fries and pate for beginners. for deep-fried halloumi I thought was quite steep, literally like chips, no broth crumbs or coating, no taste at all, cooked over. the pate was standard pate and ok roast.: the brittle wine (we both had it) had no spice and was a pretty fat cut. I would expect to see a type of carburized edge, but it was very lacking, uncertain if this roasted or cooked, on a plus, it was moist. veggies were in full and done to perfection! Cauliflower cheese was extra (near was beautiful and cauliflower had a little in it, which is always good, for just shy quid, I will return. it is a bit of KFF/Bremsen dressed posh with beautiful DECENT-Veggies. that all is said, I think it was a great place and nice people who was sweet and presentation was brill."
