""Ganslschmaus" at its best !This countryside restaurant 10 min away from Klagenfurt combines a lot : Great, authentic service, honest cooking with fresh ingredients from regional producers only, a nice intimate atmosphere with a lot of local people, a wonderful view to the close Italian/Slovenian borderline mountains and the Drau river !I was there last Sunday with my wife for lunch (reservation !): It wasn't our first visit so we were looking forward to a pleasant dining adventure, but I can tell you this time our expectations were exceeded by far: Beginning from the goose- and the meat strudel soup up to the roasted goose (+sweet chestnuts, red cabbage and dumplings) in its own juice and the boiled beef "The Bat" with fresh vegetables , horseradish, potatoes in home made beef soup and finally to the desert, apple with vanilla sauce we were served honest exquisitely prepared dishes with wine pairing and, thanks a lot,with no frill ! Addition: The staff in the restaurant is an experience of its own !This genuine dining experience for a very moderate price made our Sunday !We are already looking forward to the next gastronomic events perhaps in the form of pork and game feasts or the Meat Platter in this recommendable inn "Kirschnerhof".Thanks go to family Gross and employees !"

"Bin mit den arbeitskollegen Mittagessen gewesen und kann das Gasthaus nur empfehlen.Hatte den Lampl Burger und der war einsame Spitzte !!Die gerichte meiner Kollegen ( Käsnudel, Schnitzel, und das Tagesmenü) sahen auch sehr gut aus und hat Ihne auch sehr gut geschmeckt.Portionen waren groß genug das sogar unser bester Eser satt wurde :-)"

"A little quiet for lunch time, but overall it's fine. They do have meat options here, but very select. They also promoted another place since they dont have a buffet...which was interesting. Staff was friendly but food came out slow. On the fence about coming back again."

"We found the place almost accidentally but no matter. They are open later hours than most in Klagenfurt. There is a menu printed in English upon request, the servers are fluent as well. The portions are generous, huge actually and the service is good. I...had the ribs, wife had pork roast, with drinks it was something along the order of 40 Euro total. Walked away satisfied, it was a fun atmosphere in spite of threatening rain. Would recommend!"

"The location of “Gasthaus Possarnig” could hardly be more of a turn-off. It is sandwiched between a railway track and a factory in ruins. However, once we were there, it did not look that repulsive. There was even an outside seating underneath a chestnut tree.Having recently been thoroughly refurbished, the dining rooms were in perfect condition. They did not excel by their styling, but the one where we were seated had a quite pleasant rustic look. More remarkable than that was the exceptionally friendly and welcoming waitstaff. The permanent menu offered sufficient choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. It was complemented by three dishes of the day written on chalkboards mounted at the façade.Although the restaurant was almost full on this Sunday at lunch, the waiting time for our dishes was perfectly reasonable. The main courses were not special in any respect but nicely presented and tasted fine, whereas desserts and coffees were particularly savory. In view of the moderate prices and the normally sized portions, “Gasthaus Possarnig” provided good value for money."
