"Great hospitality. my friend got a supplementary curry and rice for her daughter. we will certainly go back....especially as it is only too easy to reach! free parking in the evening on the back of the restaurant. do not let them be turned off from the entrance/building as it is authentic up the restaurant."

"Have ordered and eaten at krua for years, every time eating is incredible and the staff is amazing. last night we ordered for 7 people (the big eaters) and their portions were generous, including their additional sauces, garnel, their sweet plates were enough for one. our whole family loves their meals every time. Yesterday evening they even gave us a lot of free banan fritter with which we are now obsessed! Many thanks to all their team, from the westernons."

"On opening Mabel’s and Shallowmead nursery were innovative and popular. Successfully run prior to Covid. Both are now sad and empty much of the time. The little cafe was an improvement after the food hygiene rating crisis. The manager, Nikki was enthusiastic, efficient and extremely friendly. She has now left. I spoke to the general manager,face to face, about her leaving and he completely ignored me,never saying a word. How rude. Today we went to Mabel’s to see how the original venue was doing. Only one table was occupied. As we wanted a sofa the only table was littered with the previous occupants debris. I had to go to the counter to ask for it to be cleared. Once done I had to go and ask for it to be cleaned. I was made to feel a nuisance. The staff showed little interest in us. Mabel’s and Shallowmead will be off our list of coffee shops and nurseries for a very long time. A masterpiece of how to turn a thriving business into a disaster."

"My Husband booked afternoon tea for my Birthday as a surprise. When we arrived there was nobody waiting in the restaurant to greet us. We had to ask the bar man where to go. He sat us in a lounge on a sofa. Perplexed, we asked if we could sit at an actual table as it was a special occasion and a sofa is too low down to eat from (and too casual! He said he would ask someone. About 10 15 minutes went past and a lady appeared and asked us if we were being looked after. We told her we were waiting; she said follow me. We walked past the same bar man who was behind the bar serving drinks! She sat us in the restaurant which only had two occupied tables. By this point 35 minutes had gone by. She said she would get us the teas. They were just tea bags. There was no table cloth and the teapots were stainless steel canteen style. The food arrived and I was surprised at the amount The savouries were a tiny rye bread, a tiny sausage roll and two finger sandwiches each. I’m sorry to say I did not enjoy the food. The cakes tasted artificial and cheap. I actually had to leave parts of them which is extremely unlike me I love cake! The table behind us were also saying they had not enjoyed the cakes. The clotted cream tasted off. The scones were small. The one saving grace was that the female waitress was lovely with our little girl and was good at her job. Nobody mentioned my Birthday despite my Husband making a note of it on the booking. At the end of this experience we sat waiting for somebody to come to our table for quite some time. Unfortunately I had to leave the room to go to the bar to ask the bar man if somebody could take our payment. The bill came and I was absolutely in shock to see that on top of the charge for food £28pp, they had added VAT as well as a 12.5% service charge! My Husband did not want to make a scene so he paid it. I was not best pleased. An awful lot here that needs to be improved!"

"Food small portion no side sale or veg on plate had the chicken very dry was that and just chips very bland tasteless cheese on top of chicken looked green my friend had fish and chips which come with mushy peas was passable but nothing special value for money lousy wouldn't reckonmend nether would I go again Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20"
