"We’ve eaten at Café Doonan many times as it’s generally been pleasant enough. We’ve often taken visiting guests there as it’s nice to have a meal somewhere leafy that’s not in the middle of the hustle & bustle of Gympie Terrace or Hastings Street.Sadly, our last couple of visits have been really sub-par. Time before with 8 of us last the food was pretty sub-standard, for example my eggs Benedict tasted of nothing but vinegar. Today’s visit was disappointing on a number of fronts.As it was a warm morning the three of us wanted to sit outside under the trees. The choices were a couple of small tables for two, a large table that hadn’t been cleared away, a large table that hadn’t been set for the day & was covered in c**p (literally… bird poop etc) and a large table that had a ‘Reserved 8:30’ sign on it. We tried the small tables & just couldn’t fit 3 people so as it was after 8:45 we figured it was pretty safe to sit at the ‘Reserved’ table. Just before 9 our meals arrived and staff, with our meals in-hand, told us we couldn’t sit there as the table was reserved. We pointed out the time & they said ‘sorry, they are regulars…’So… ignoring the fact that they could have; a) – cleared the other large table for their phantom ‘regulars’ or b) – cleaned the un-clean table for their phantom ‘regulars’ we were moved to… the table covered in bird poop. Yes, they offered to clean it but that's not the point.About midway through our meal the ‘regulars’ (who are apparently much more important than the people who have just paid over $50 for breakfast) turned up. Two of them. By the time we'd finished there were still just two of them. On a large table. And they’d ordered nothing.Seriously Café Doonan. Get your priorities straight & have some respect for customers please.The food itself ended up not being worth the hassle – bacon with the eggs benny was dried (like it had been sitting warming), hash browns were soggy, my partners poached eggs on toast with avo came with one smallish piece of toast.So anyway… in-short… we won’t be back which is a shame as it is effectively our local. We’ll go somewhere that has a bit more respect for paying customers who are actually there & is more consistent with its food."

"Best place in Tewantin. The owners are very nice and great to chat with. The options that are available in the Display Cabinet are amazing, fresh cooked vegetarian options, quiches, frittatas, gluten free options, wraps and fresh sandwiches..Had a Kebab here the other day and it was simply superb. Highly recommend and definitely is my local cafe of Choice."

"A very pleasant experience especially if you get a table on the veranda overlooking the river. (You can book or be prepared to wait or hope to be lucky..) The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The lunch special of barramundi with innovative tasty vegetables with pear for $18.90 including a glass of wine is good value. The staff ar pleasant and if you have room, the desserts taste authentic and are worth trying. Coffee good too. We would definitely go back."

"Been ages since I had a coffee at Jamaica Blue at this location. Good as always with nice staff and excellent service. I only had a small coffee with Soy Milk - very well priced at $4.00. The Coffee had excellent flavours but I have only given it an average score instead of Very Good as the Coffee was way too Hot - scalding in fact. Most people know that coffee should be hot to very warm but sadly this one was HOT !However I will go back and try again when next passing by."
