"The Bao Place in Burnaby is a tiny restaurant that serves home-made steam buns ("bao"). The restaurant opened in September, 2015 and is located across from the Metrotown Mall. The concept is simple. Each day the owner makes everything from scratch; nothing is frozen or re-used. The dough is fluffy and sweet and the filling inside of them are either savoury (pork, bbq, veggie, curry) or sweet (buttermilk, red bean, taro, hot soya). These buns are kept warm in a large stainless steel steamer behind the counter. The buns vary in price from $2.50 to $3.25 each. I had two buns and this satisfied me for lunch. The owner said the recipe is based on traditional Malaysian baos. The restaurant has practically no seating so you will likely have to take-out but the buns are worth it. I hope to return in the future and would definitely recommend that you try it if you are in the area."
