"1 word: wow. I was unbelievably impressed by my experience at The Ruby. A part of the lobby of The Zed hotel, The Ruby is a cozy and eclectic restaurant that oozes character. I was blessed to be able to order a Fried Chicken Benny which was very unique and incredibly tasty. I enjoyed my benny in combination with a well-prepared Bailey's coffee that was all served by a very kind and courteous waitress who ensured we had a wonderful experience. Just be prepared to wait during peak hours as it can fill up quickly, but I promise it is worth it. Overall, I was incredibly impressed by the food and experience and would recommend it to anyone."

"What a treat!! We heard about John’s and we were not disappointed. My husband found the steak and prawn beni delicious the steak was cooked perfectly. My pancake was the best I have ever tasted. Holy smokes their secret cream sauce that you pour over the pancake along with butter and syrup was out of this world. Will be our regular breakfast place when in the city."

"I quite enjoyed my experience here - we came as a group and had a table booked as requested, and when the weather went bad staff were lovely about moving inside. We were curious about the beers and one of the staff dug out their secret reserve stack of beers out the back which was really nice. Our food servings were generous and tasty, with some really good value $15 lunch deals.<br>

My spicy buffalo wings were especially notable - not very spicy and not traditional buffalo sauce but they tasted so delectable, and were cooked to a hot, fresh and juicy crispy perfection. The jalapeño poppers were huge and fresh, and so yummy. The fried chicken waffles with whiskey maple, OMG - I don't go for sweet dishes but that was amazing even if presentation wasn't the best. My sliders were OK, not as hot and tasty but not bad - they really needed a condiment. I tried the loaded fries and mac and cheese which were OK but I loved my own choices and will definitely go back. <br>

"I?ve eaten here twice now. Both times our server was spectacular. I?ve only ordered breakfast but it is solidly executed. The Prusa is an exciting menu option for those mornings you can?t decide what to order. Quirky retro vibe. I?ll be back again!"

"Awesome place for ice cream! We took our family for ice cream and were super impressed with the great quality and quantity of ice cream and the fantastic tasting waffle cones which my 5 year old son stated were the best tasting cone he'd ever had! On top of that I think they offered really good value and were very fairly priced. The staff members working this evening were also top notch, quick friendly and helpful. Cant wait to stop by for our next visit!"

"I came here today with my dad. We each got a liege waffle with whipped cream. I can honestly say this was the best waffle I’ve had in my lifetime.Not too soft, not too hard or dry, and with a hefty serving of delicious home made whipped cream. It was served on real plates with metal utensils, and the place was run by one very friendly man behind the counter.10/10 will eat here again any time I’m in Victoria."

"The choice brunch joint in downtown Victoria! On our way for a South West Island retreat on a Thursday, we made a stop at the Ruby on Johnson around 10am and despite a brief line, were seated within 10 minutes (party of 2). We were immediately enthralled with the quaint and comfortable homestyle aesthetic and CCR album playing over vinyl. The food and service was even better! Our server, Lauren, served us the Mexican Eggs Benedict and the Traditional Eggs Benedict (with gluten free modifications). Food was absolutely delicious and downright filling. We'll certainly be back for round 2!"
